Re: wiring colours and what they mean

Are you trying to use that radio in a different vehicle, or are you trying to find out what wires in your vehicle you need to connect to a new radio? Your best bet either way is to go to your local library and find the service manual to that make, model, and year of vehicle, and look up either the wiring diagram, or connector views of the radio. You can also buy conversion harnesses to plug a new radio right into your vehicle, so you don't have to splice wires. You don't want to just start hooking up wires because putting power or ground in the wrong spot can wreak havoc on the vehicle and the radio. Hope this helps.

Colour codes for wiring

You just assume , same plug, must be the same connection? Even when in both cars they use different radio / audio systems?
Without a cabling diagram I never would plug in anything. You be lucky, if it is only acting strange and you did not damage anything.
Not knowing what model or year you are talking about, I even can't check how you should wire them. I do have some Opel (Vauxhall) manuals., don't forget to mention the building year from both cars.

:I shorted out my kdc 128 head unit and i switched all the fuses but it still wont turn on. any ideas?

Firstly, the main wires from the KDC-128 you need to check are:

RED - this should be connected to the vehicle's +12v IGNITION wire.
YELLOW - this should be connected to the vehicle's =12v BATTERY wire.
EARTH - i) some tuners will only earth when the tuner itself, is screwed into the vehicle's chassis (i.e. a metal mounting bracket); ii) some tuners require the BLACK wire to be attached to the vehicle's chassis (i.e. a metal mounting bracket).

Secondly, if the above wires are connected correctly, then you should suspect the fuse on rear of the tuner has blown (even if it LOOKS ok). Replace and see what happens.

Thirdly, if all above are ok, then you have a short somewhere on the vehicle.

Stop kenwood KDC-mp239 loosing radio settings with ignition off

You have two power leads bringing battery power into the radio. One is switched off when the ignition is off and the other power lead is always on. That second one is the one you may have wired wrong. You need to check that one out to make sure it stays on when the key is turned off. Good luck.
