A tape was stuck, As I tried to get it out the power shut off and the 'tape in' light started to blink. I opened it and got the tape out, but now whenever I turn it on the vcr attempts to start, but turns off and has the 'tape in' light continue to blink.

Tape is stuck

First take out the battery. Then start unscrewing the outside panels to take it apart. Basically any screw you find, take off. The easiest way not to loose them is by sticking them into the side of a box. After you get the camera panels off, you should be able to carefully get inside and dislodge anything that may be in the way. Once you are able to dislodge the cord or whatever is causing this problem. Try inserting the battery and ejecting the tape. Let me know if you are having any trouble with this or have any other questions and I would be glad to help.

Good luck

My daughter just had a problem with her Philips tv. It has a built-in vhs player on it, and when she put in a tape, the tv started turning off. I turned it on and got a blue screen that says 't-eject'. I...

It is possible that the Tape mechanism is struck and so is shutting off the power to the unit. Since the power is shared it is possible that the cut off to the set is due to the error in the VHS player.
So in this case you will need to remove the VCR and get the entangled or the stuck up cassette from the player so as to reset the error. Also if there is a mechanical issue to the player must be checked.

I have a tape stuck in my drive and I can't eject it either on the hardware or using back up exec. The folloing lights are on Green power is on, orange status is on, and red error is flashing Any ideas how...

The only option for you is to remove the tape drive from your server, open it, and manually eject the tape that is stuck. This is not easy to do. Maybe it would be better if you remove the tape drive from the server and take it to a repair centre.

Tape is stuck in the vcr and when you turn on the power it turns the tape about 10 seconds and then shuts off the power.

if the tape has snagged inside, the only way to get it out is to take the top of the vcr off and manually remove it. very simple procedure. only use your fingers and not anything sharp. have you tried rewinding the tape (from STOP mode) sometimes tapes can end up being wound very tight which would have the same effect. if you can rewind do so, then fast forward until tape stops, repeat this a few times this should loosen the tape.

Reinsert cassette

I've been researching this for hours. I have the same problem. Took it to a repair shop today that would charge me $250 to replace the whole tape mechanism. Finally, I tried the whack trick. I gave the camera a good firm smack on the right side, and voila, now it works! I'm going to tranfer everything to DVD ASAP!

Tape stuck in an Emerson Model EWV401 VCR

take it to someone who has experience in removing stuck VCR tapes or you will be paying a lot more for a new VCR. They won't charge you much....IF they even charge you.

Do you know why the tape was stuck? How did you get it out? On most vcr's there's a mode switch connected to the mechanics of the vcr. If the mode switch isn't in stop position, the unit will try to get it there and shut off if it can't. Bad belts, bad idler wheel, dirty mode switch, mechanical timing off (maybe due to forcing a stuck tape out?)... all these can cause this.

Put a tape in and eject it. It will then work. Just had this problem. CST IN means the VCR thinks it has a tape in. Trust me... Very fixable.

you have probably bent the tab that holds the tape end sensor or its light. The tapes have a clear section at the end of the tape and the light shines through to the sensor to tell the unit that the tape is finished. The light should not pass through the recordable part of the tapes. If anything is bent the light may shine on the sensor and tell the unit you're at the end of the tape and to shut off. Some units have a tape tension sensor also that tells the unit that the tape is broken and to shut off. Only way to know is to remove power and take it apart and look for anything that may be bent. Stay away from the rotating head assembly and the posts that the tap travels on. Do not apply power with the unit open. Do not load a tape and remove power as some units freeze in the loaded position and will not load new tapes unless manually placed back in the unloaded position.
