what is v21a, HP says no such thing,
post full model number of HP monitor.
and no monitor on earth has
    8 speakers, 7.1 ,
except this. (kids don't do this at home)

    short answer, NO.
long , what do you want?, got money?
Go to the store and buy a 7.1 system.

Full surround sound, that will never happen, on any monitor made.
at best a monitor can have 2 speakers. called stereo or 2 channels, as an option inside the monitor when new.
i googles and at HP v21a and there is no such thing,
try typing or showing the rear servers tag first. and we can talk what a v21a can do and can not do but will NEVER do Surround.
the dell PC is also very old
the dell 410 , to run 7.1 sound

simple answer for get V21
buy a sound system that supports 7.1 sorround sound.
here is 5.1 set, if you need 7.1 you will spend more.

SOURCE: Surround Sound Speaker

It sounds like you need to define the speakers to the PC. Find the icon that controls your Sound Card and dabble with it.

2.also check the audio settings of headphone port (volume, channels, etc.)

SOURCE: I have a dell deminsion

Does your monitor require a driver, And it sounds like maybe an issue with your video card, But without seeing it I really can't help..
However it does sound like you ave a video card issue, can you borrow a card from a buddy to see if it works, even if you add a crappy video card it will let you know if its something more serious like the motherboard or Power supply unit

XPS-410 needs to have MCE 2005 Rollup two SP3 replaced by Windows 7 64 bit. Too many problems to list currently but will work limited programs

Not sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to convert 32 bit to 64 bit Apps, try going to manufacturers website to look for drivers.
Win 7 will actually find the best drivers for your devices.

what ever OS (windows) it runs its not safe on the internet.
windows 2000? or XP?

called legacy now. (means zero support at HP and MS)
no dell monitor stated, endless kinds over 20 years. made.
what makes you think the dell has speakers/ lacking the 3.5mm
phone jack
on it. did you forget to plug the sound cable in?

the hard drive has nothing to do with sound.
one can boot to a LINUX CD and play music all day long.
a fact. same with booting to USB thumb drive.(linux)

why not buy some external speaker, for $10 or at Goodwill(tm)

My Dell monitor goes to sleep right after windows xp starts to load and it won't come on after that. my computer is still running but the monitor is a sleep. I have hit f8 and f12 with nothing happening....

Go into safe mode
Under settings, control panel, power options set "turn off monitor to never
reboot

I think this is not a sleep problem but the incorrect monitor settings were set. This will cause the screen to go black when the OS comes up. Boot in safe mode and change the display settings
to 640x480
OR
in safe mode, delete your monitor. When you reboot it will load a default monitor and you should be OK

I have an Dell Dimension E510 running windows XP. I have 5.1 surround sound speakers that were working fine until recently. Only 2 speakers work; left and right. None of the others have sound. I have...

Reinstall the software for the sound system, this should redetect the speakers properly as 5.1 surround sound speakers.

If you do this and it still doesn't work then the speakers are bad and your sound system would need to be replaced.

2 Dell 5650 have no sound

the surround sound speakers plug into the rear of the computer with three plugs. an adapter comes with it to plug those three into one green plug. if you plug that green plug in, the rear and center speakers should work, although i don't know if the surround sound will work correctly but you should get sound
