Problem with printing Black on MP760

Black print dirty, patchy or none existant. All cleaning, head alignment procedures etc seems to make matters worse. On Nozzle Check printout cartridge 3eBK info is virtually non existant. On Manual Alignment printout, columns A and G are virtually non existant. Colours printing OK. All cartridges are Canon original and have sufficient ink.

Printer is showing all cartridges at least half full. Will purchase new cartridges in order to confirm whether this is the solution to the problem.

  • jackoviejo Aug 08, 2009

Whilst waiting for delivery of new cartridge, soaked existing cartridge in petrol etc., as suggested. Still waiting for ink to stop dripping out of cartridge when inverted for installation! Black seems to be the only problem. Where colour selection is available, can print all docs in eg. dark blue or any other colour. Printer LCD still shows 3e BK cartridge as half full even when removed from printer and still prints with cartridge removed. Is this normal?

  • jackoviejo Aug 13, 2009

Have installed new 3eBK cartridge. Printer readout still shows cartridge as only half full. Nozzle check prints no data for this cartridge, but all other cartridges OK. Auto head alignment failed; printer suggests manual alignment, but printout shows no blocks for first column (A and G), although all other blocks OK, and no black printing eg.column identification A to L or adjustment scale eg +7 to -3.

Replace the ink trash bin is what its called with a new one that should shore this up as when it get full the printer does not print well at all having this issue, Since you did some cleaning already you may have a clogged plunger or a bad plunger witchever comes first.

1. trashtray
2. cloagged or damaged plunger

If you are still having issues you might have a dired cartridge this is possible. Do not shoot the messanger here as I cannot see what is actually happending on your allighment page printout but try those steps it also will not hurt to visit canon troublshooting site.

Might be the ink in Black Cartridge is dry. Try changing the cartridge and then check if same happens with the new one?

    You can also try this:

Take out the black cartridge, insert it in alcohol or petrol for 4 - 5 hours, take it out, clean it and let if dry for 2 - 3 hours, clean the cartridge, insert it back and then check.

Hi there

It should not be detecting the black cartridge on the display if it has been removed. I would avoid placing the petrol-soaked cartridge in again as it may leak into the printer.

The best option is indeed to wait for the arrival of the new cartridge and see if it helps.

Please do not rate this reply or your reply will not be returned to me.

Thanks

Black ink will not print on Pixma mp760

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Incomplete patchy printing

Hello,

Please try to do a printer head cleaning. You can do it by getting a small earbud and soak it with a small amount of water. Or try to adjust it by doing an alignment. Usually, the printers have this functionality. Please refer to the user manual.

Grid pattern on Canon MP760 test print is patchy and cleaning process does not fix it.

You can try to remove the print head and ink cartridges.
Soak the head in an ammonia10-20% solution with warm water for 30-45 min.
Dry the head completely and re-install.Now run your grid patter,
It sonds like(from the grid reference)that only the black is clogging. This is a pigmented ink and tend to dry if not used for months at a time.

Changed the print head in my Canon MP760 but now printing is blurred and very faint

Try cleaning the felt pads where the print head would rest when not printing. They get full of ink and cause more printing problems. I use water to clean them.Don't loose them, they are needed to keep the print head from drying out.

The black cartbridge is not printing and won't align

Dies this model have a separate print head? Or is the head part of the cartridge? If it is the latter then it seems to be a data transfer problem- which means possibly the contacts in the machine that mate with the contacts on the cartridge are dirty or damaged. In the first instance try gentle rubbing with a moist tissue the in machine contacts then try. Also try the Lexmark website Tech Support Team.
