I put it in my Gateway E2599 desktop but it needs a driver, and the 02 micron driver that would be for the gateway installed card reader does not work for it . i need to find the original driver /brand of reader that HP used in the model desktop so i can install the correct driver for that unit itself. can any one help with a site or driver that will be compatible?
HP pavilion A705W desktop.
no OS stated, why post lacking so key information.?????
what reader (do not use gateway anything in any HP)
mice/keyboard usb , excepted.
i have no idea at all what you are attempting.
what is in your hand, plugged into what jack exactly

a705w, 14years old now.
you are correct day1 option HP for that are (data sheet spec)
9-in-1 digital media card reader supports the following cards:
moving that to a relic Gateway, only luck happens.
why not tell what OS is there,
then in device manager, if its windows
find this device, try it on all USB ports.
if USB ports are dead, so will be it so fix uSB first.
then see the reader show up, next.
then right right click it and pick update driver
if not on line now, it will never ever find it. ever.
after all its alien to any gate way.
learn not that if might find the driver at MS.com but is
listed only for HP systems an fails.
why not go to ebay and buy generic for $5 , go nuts, spand 5 bucks, but it too needs to support your UNSTATED OS.
14 years ago , they made bad things, XP was it.
is this the virus magnet XP, if yes, delete it and upgrade.
win XP is dead, and has over 700 exploits now.!! lots.
sP3 does not fix them all !!!
kinda like being on the Titanic
and not having this, for 28 degree water. (not invented yet then)

obtain the driver from cd/dvd that was included as you purchased your desktop and try to check if the driver supports with the operating system you are using now. for example the driver available in your cd/dvd is only for windows xp and your operating system you are using now is windows vista of course driver not installed. try to download from internet the driver that are suite to your unit model and current operating system this can fixed your problem or else downgrade your os tha can support the driver that are available from your cd/dvd.

If there is any identifying information on the SD card reader, it might be possible to look it up.
On notebooks, HP used Realtek SD card readers.
