Press and hold the mode button until the year starts flashing in the upper left. Tap the mode button 3 times. You will see "24hr" with the 24 flashing. Press the + or - button on the back. I wish I had a solution... I'm in the exact same situation. I put in new batteries, and all I get is a faint reading of gibberish from the LCD screen, and that's it. I've tried following the instructions, but I can't set the time in the LCD clock, since it's unreadable, and almost completely gone. Seththomas.com has a web page indicating that "they will be back with info", but no support or FAQ pages. Disappointing... I have three of these clocks, and they are all behaving the same way.
