My lg dehumidifier lhd45et8 does not gather water,it appears that an external hose was connected at one time and i don't know ifa piece was taken out to connect the exteranl hose and how do I get it...

Hi,
If you are not getting water at all then the hose is not the issue...
If you are getting water and it is just not going into the bucket, then plug the hole were the hose hooked up with silicone caulk and a plug fashioned out of whatever you can find that size...

If there is no water, then the compressor has a freon leak or is bad and the dehumidifier is junk... it will not be worth fixing it as cheap as new ones are...

Don't see anywhere to hook up hose to the bucket? So that it will continously drain. Model HDN655E-rb

The drain plug should be on the rear of the unit about 1/2 way up the back of the unit. It has a screw off cap and rubber plug. Keep these & don't lose them. You will need them, whenever you stop using the hose drain. Most folks put them in the water bucket for safe keeping.

The garden hose can not exceed 48" in length and slope down and straight to the floor drain. Drainage relies entirely on gravity.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I just purchased a DE65EKL Model denumidifier. i hooked up the hoes connection but the bucket fills up instead. Why does the hose not drain water?

If the hose is longer than 5 feet, that's part of the problem. The hose must slope down and straight to a floor drain. It relies on gravity to drain.

Although you just purchased it, the hose connector and inner tubing may be clogged. This is another reason water is diverted to the bucket. Turn the unit OFF & unplug it.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connector and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for water flow. It may take 5 to 10 minutes for water to appear.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solves the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

There is a hose hooked up so we don't have to empty the bucket all the time and it has stopped going through the hose - not sure why?

The reason it's stopped going thru the hose, is that either the hose is stopped up or the hose connection and interior tubing is clogged. When this occurs, water is diverted into the bucket.

The hose is easy to check for a clog. Remove the 5' section and either blow thru it or look thru it .

To clear a clog in the hose connection and/or interior tubing turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Then do the following

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection hole . Reconnect the hose plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for water flow to the floor drain.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hanger
,

Hope this helped you to solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Quite frankly, from what you described, you may need to have the refrigerant gas in the compressor drained and recharged. As. it sounds like the compressor wants to turn on, but lacks the ability due to low refrigerant or a faulty condenser switch. Either one can be repaired. But, if you don't have the experience to deal with it, it's best left to the pros.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

I want to add a drainage tube to the unit so I don't have to keep emptying the collection container. How do you de-activiate the "full bucket " switch? I have the Kenmore Model #...

Roren, once the hose is properly installed, it's not necessary to deactivate the bucket switch. Unless, the tubing inside the hose connection is clogged, the water should drain through the hose. However, the hose should not be longer than 5 feet and should drain down and away from the unit. As the drainage relies entirely on gravity.

If you have already tried this and was unsuccessful, the hose connection drain is clogged. You can use an 18" plastic Zip Tie, inserted carefully into the drain hole connection to loosen the clog and remove it. But, you'll have to gingerly work it past a bend in the tunbe, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then while pulling it back out twist the Zip Tie to dislodge the clog. As you reach the end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow. Also, check the hose for clogs before connecting to the unit.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Have hose hooked up but it does not drain. Compartment fills with water and needs dumped manually. Want the hose to work so twice-a-day dumping in basement not needed. Thanks!

You connected a hose to the hose outlet on the catch tank ... right? The tank will not drain even though there are no kinks in the hose and the end is lower than the tank, right? Did you put a hole in the tank before you attached the hose? I will bet not ... and I will not laff at you ... I did the same.

Put a hole in the tank (where the hose attaches), reattach the hose and all will be well.

Hi Graham. Check the hose and the opening to the hose through the base of the dehumidifer. There is probably some debris in there causing this aggravating problem. J.

Dehumdifier won't drain

You just need to get the water flowing and start the siphoning process by taking out the water bucket while it's full of water and raising it up high enough to start the water flowing. Once the water starts flowing, you can put the bucket back and the water will keep flowing (by capillary action). If the bucket empties completely, you may have to do it again periodically to get the water flowing again.
