The hose fitting goes onto an adapter that screws on to your faucet. You have to have the piece on your faucet for it to work. As best I can recall, once both pieces are in place, you pull down on the locking collar on the hose, put it on the faucet and relaese.

Yes. It is a special screw on adaptor. It should have come with your washer but it is available at any hardware store or at a place like lowes. Just ask the sales people. Easy to do. Read your manual!

Faucet connector for an old Kenmore portable dishwasher
Here is the part you need to fix the unicoupler: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-612568-%3d%3di612568&PartID=612568 The ring didn't fit on mine, so I just used the old one. Pull back the old ring, pry off the c-spring with your nails, and replace the coil spring, teeth, ring, and c-spring.
