Hi,
Have you observed any 5 digit service numbers in the display of your unit?
SOURCE: Sharp Blu-Ray model BD-HP20X locked to region 4 how to unlock ?
Well I Checked my data resources and saw that there are no hacks or tricks for Sharp yet... the only thing you can try doing now is to ask your Dealership if they can unlock the regions for you. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find anything for newer models like HDDVD or Blu-Ray players.
Sorry T_T But let's hope someone might be able to help as well..

Have you checked your sleep timer, or recording timer, anything that is "timing" set incorrectly? If this is NOT the case, then, you have a fault, that is causing the Power supply to shut down, as it senses some component, has, or is about to fail completely, so it shuts down to avoid a fire, and explosion,or both. It then "Cools Down" and the "Fault" clears and the set will work again, until the conditions exist that cause it to happen again, if continually doing tis, eventually whatever was, the problem, it would usually completely fail. Except for the most basic of problems there is no home servicing digital TV's. So it must be attended to by a trained professional.
It is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" form the manufacturers,in your case Samsung, and contact their local office, and ask for a recommended service center, I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. you see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i sometimes, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option.
SOURCE: some dvds wont play on
Your dvd player may be scratching or breaking the discs. See if you can play them on another dvd player. If you can, then they are not broken and you will need to get a new dvd player or get yours fixed. If you can't then they are getting scratched and you will need to get a new dvd player or get yours fixed.

if you bought the player in Dubai.......Download the update file for your player from the samsung BRAZIL website.
Open the RUF file in a hex editor http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/...load/xvi32.zip is good.
You will notice right at the top SAMSUNG BD-P1600 XAX, change the XAX to
MEA, must be in capitals......do NOTHING else and save the file.
Use this file to update your player using the instructions in the manual
and you should be good to play dvd's and blu-ray's in your region.
For the person that bought their player in the USA......Do exactly the same but replace XAX with XAA.
