I suggest purchasing Roxio or IBM record now...I have had greater success with programs other than Media Player.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I bought some old radio shows on from amazon, and it such a large number of shows that they put them on a dvd . I would like to down- load them on cd so I can play them in my car or cd players....

It depends on the format that they were put on the DVD initially, to play these on a car stereo or CD player they may need converting to be recognised by a standard CD player.

In vista, you can use Windows Media Player to do this. I'd recommend copying them to your computer from the DVD by creating a folder called "radio shows" or similar in an area you can easily find again On the desktop is a good place.

Now open Windows Media Player and insert a blank CD into your CD/DVD drive (I'm assuming you have an optical drive that will burn cd's)

In the menu of Media player, you will see a tab called "burn", click on it and you get the option on the right of the pane to "create a burn list". Make sure the icon says audio cd

Now open the folder you just created called "radio shows", select the first shows you want to burn to cd and drag the file onto the area marked "drag items here to create a burn list"

As you add files the CD meter should start to fill up, when it is near full, you can click on "start burn" which is at the bottom of the pane. Your compilation should now burn to a cd, repeat for the next cd.

If you get stuck, under the burn tab, there is a help with burning guide

Burn a Data CD or DVD in Windows 7 Using Media Player

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player. An audio CD can contain just approximately eight minutes of music. On the other hand, if you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player, it will be able to hold numerous hours of music. Video files and pictures can also be added to the data discs.
When you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7, the Windows Media Player does not transform the selected files to a different format prior to saving them to a blank data disc, so the files stay in the compressed condition. This allows you to put much more items on a single disc.As the format of the files is not changed, the quality of the files remains the same.

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player as follows:
  • Click Start.
  • Click All Programs.
  • Select Windows Media Player.
  • Click the Burn tab in the Player Library.
  • Click Burn options and select Data DVD or CD.
  • Insert a blank disc into the CD or DVD burner of your computer.
  • Close the AutoPlay dialog box if it comes into sight.
  • Some people have more than one CD drive in their computer. If you have multiple CD drives in your computer too, select the one you would like to use in the navigation window.
  • Look for the songs you want to burn.
  • In order to make your burn list, drag the songs from the details pane in the center of the Player Library to the list pane which is on its right side.
  • You can also change the order of the items in the burn list by dragging them upward or downward in the list.
  • To remove a song from your list, simply right-click on the item and click on Remove from list.
  • After you finish making your list, click upon Start burn.
It can take a while to burn a data disc. If your selected items cannot fit in one disc, you also have the choice of burning the rest of the items to a different disc. A data DVD is not the same as a DVD-Video disc ex. the movie DVD you buy or rent from the store.

How to burn a dvd from an acer laptop

The laptop should have come with CD/DVD burning software preloaded. Acer's specs page for your model says it comes with NTI Media Maker. The program will have help information available to guide you through, and you can find more help online. If you just want to write data files onto a DVD, the process typically is not much more than dragging files to a layout window and telling the program to burn the disc. This gives you a way to back up data, or to store movies in formats you can view on a computer (AVI, MPG, etc.).

On the other hand, if you're asking how to make a video DVD that will play in a regular DVD player like a commercial movie, maybe with features like menus or scene selection and such, the process for making that kind of DVD is more involved. You need some DVD authoring software. NTI may offer that capability, but I'll admit I have never looked.

In most cases, the software that comes preloaded on computers is a limited version of some commercial product. The computer manufacturers get paid to include the program, and the software company hopes you'll buy the full version when you discover the limitations. If you don't want to pay for software, there are free, more full-featured programs available for downloading.

For general CD and DVD burning, I use CDBurnerXP. To make video DVDs, I use a program called DVDStyler. Both are open-source, meaning they are 100% free to download and use, and they both offer a lot of features.

I burned a cd on my dell inspiron 1525 and tryed to play it in my streo but nothing help please

If it didn't work you might not have used the correct program to burn the CD. I recommend using Windows Media Player. This is already installed on your Notebook. Open the program, at the top you will see Library, now playing, rip, burn, sync. Click on burn. Now you will see a separator on the right side of the screen that has a picture of a CD and says to drag items to the list. Left click on the song you want on the CD, hold in the left click and drag over to the column then release the button. Do this with each song you want on the CD and click on the Start Burn button at the bottom of the list you created.

I want to down load a song on my computer to a disc. How do I do this?

* First you should have a CD/DVD Burner on your computer (ordinary CD player would not work).
* Load the blank disc into the DVD burner
* Open the folder where the song is, highlight the song by clicking it once.
* Click on "copy this file" and then select the DVD drive.
* Then the file should start downloading.

Have a great day!

When playing a burned mp3cd all I get is noise

It is the way it is burned. On the program you are using, it is set for all songs on one track, not sure about the noise. I recommend using windows media player 11. Go to media player, select burn, create list. Then drag all the songs from library to the burn list on right side, and hit burn. That's all there is to it.

Windows media player 11 on vista will not allow me to burn files ,burn list header says i need to connect a burner and retry ,but it already has a burner installed. i think my brother might have mistakenly...

have you tried burning anything else besides burning songs in WMP11? try to burn something else first, like a few files on a CD using the drag & drop function of vista to see if your burner is indeed defective, disconnected or missing some files.
