Question about GE Profile GCG1700LII 15" Built-In Trash Compactor with 1.4 Cu. Ft. Capacity, Fully Integrated Door ...
I have just replaced my Bosch integral fridge with a Hotpoint. I fitted the facia to the door front so that it matches the rest of the kitchen but now the fridge door wont open fully as the facia catches on the cupboard next to it. I then realised that the hinges on the new fridge are different in design. The Bosch ones swing out as they open to offer some clearance.I believe this is called a " cabinet hinge" whereas the ones fitted on this new fridge are pivot hinges. Is there anyting I can do to my new fridge to fix this problem?

Check the bottom of the freezer door at the hinge to see how it is suppose to look and work, assuming the freezer door still works right. Then look at the ref. door and compare.
Sounds like something is broken or damaged. Usually there is a white tefflon washer which is beveled to allow the weight of the door to help it close. Check with an appliance parts store, you may be able to buy just the washer or the whole hinge assembly may come in a package.

Hi Gareth. I fitted a door to my Hotpoint hsz2321L today. I used self tapping screws through the brackets into the fridge door sides. Looking at the old fridge that came out showed that this was the method used previously. No seal is broken and so the fridge is working perfectly. I do have an issue re-fitting the door onto the new fridge though. The pivot hinge on my fridge doesnt give enough clearance and so it catches on the unit at the side of it. The old fridge (a Bosch) cad cabinet hinges that would sort of concertina out to give clearence. Anyway, good luck.
