I recently installed my car deck CQ-VD7001U, I do not remember the lock code. How can I get my radio to work? I really love the unit and don't want to have to replace it, can it I still use it?

We've already tried that it's still prompting me to enter a lock code. Is there no reset codes for this my unit?

  • MEL GOLEA Aug 04, 2009

CONTACT WHAT DEALER? SOME ONE HERE SUGGESTED I BYPASS AND GROUND THE PARKING BRAKE WIRE ... I DID THAT AND IT'S STILL ASKING FOR AN INPUT CODE. IS THERE NO OVER RIDE CODE I CAN USE?

Hi there Mel,

Press firmly the track button to the right for 8 seconds or so; do not remove the press until it auto enter itself. Get the code. Go to ID code menu and enter a new code that you can always remember.

Goodluck and please let me know.

To bypass the video lock with this unit it only takes grounding the parking brake wire

cost me $40 bucks for this problem, watched the authorized servie guy from panasonic fix it, all you do is turn the unit it so the code screen comes up and then press and hold the toggle button in the bottom right side of the unit for 10-15 seconds, it will reset the unit for you, just keep holding it down and it will work

you need the remote to power up the unit to get it to the code screen, then its just a matter of holding the toggle button down for 10-15 seconds, then unit will come back to life... this does work, i just paid a guy $40 to fix mine.....

You need the remote control that goes with this DVD player to make it work it has two security devices. One you remote, you must push the power button on the remote the first time you use it. Two the security code, it is a four digit code that must be entered anytime that the device is installed into a different car. If it's code is not setup yet the code is 0000, otherwise you need to get the code from the person that installed it. There is no way to bypass the these two steps.

Remote

Each manufacturer has their own remotes which you can obtain by contacting their website or writing then to explaining that you want a remote for your model #. Most stereos work without the remote except where you have to enter a code for the security device on higher end units.

Panasonic ID-CODE Problem

Turn unit on with remote and open screen. You will be prompted to enter a code. If you don't know the code, you can use this overide to get your unit working again. As stated above (unit on; screen open; prompting code). In the lower right corner you have a 4-way toggle used to skip track, etc. Hold this firmly to the right for at least 10 seconds and the unit should reset the code. Do not let go until this happens. Remember hold it firmly! This will work! You will need the remote to get the code prompt!
