Usually the dryer must be disassembled to the point that the drum can be removed. The heating element(s) and fuse are behind the drum.

Thermalfuse

It's A circuit breaker located on the out side of the burner at the 7 o'clock position. You need to remove the front panel to get to it. Unplug the dryer before doing this.

Where is the thermal fuse or switch

Hi bigblockant...
Remove the backpanel from your dryer, look for the wires going to a plastic switch, oval switch, etc.
Take the two wires off of the thermal fuse/thermistor/thermostat,etc and put them together one fuse/thermistor/thermalfuse at a time, if the machine runs...replace the fuse.

Fan not operating

pls..check the fan motor maybe the problem was in there. check the thermalfuse f they have maybe it OPEN reading at your multitester. f does change that thermalfuse. or maybe the capacitor of that fan installed in there. sometimes its GOOD when you test them, but they did not work when applied a load circuit.

Thermalfuse in whirlpool duet electric dryer blows every few months - what is causing this? Had servive 4 times inlast 10 months - keep replacing the thermalfuse and also shortened the vent hose for better...

Hi miralou

Check for lint buildup and clean if necessary your vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off and see if the dryer is blowing out a good stream of air.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system and it will normally blow the thermostat/thermistor.
Check to see:
It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted impeading the air flow.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.

Have a Kenmore model # 97591240. Dryer is not

Hi, if the igniter is not glowing then the problem will be with the thermal fuse. I'm going to assume this is a whirlpool made Kenmore since you did not provide the full model number so please remember this when rating. If you remove the back from the dryer and look down and to the left you will see the thermal fuse it looks like this:

http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/attachments/whirlpool-kitchenaid/415d1159395986-dryer-timer-wiring-thermalfuse.jpg

Pull the wires off and test it with your ohms meter. If as I suspect it reads open replace it. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Mike

Kenmore elite gas dryer

Does the ignition glow when you start the dryer? if so you have power to gas valve and ignition system. if not you may have an open thermostat or thermalfuse.

If the ignitor just sits there and glows all day, you have other problems, It could be a gas valve, or ignitor sensor.
