  • jsc5035 Aug 01, 2009

lI said the vertical lines start on the left side of the screen and the same vertical moves staying vertical to the right side of the screen. Thus the left side does not have lines anymore because the have moved to the right. I started with one line and now have four. I do not have directtv I have cable. The problem does not go away when I play dvds.

Hi

First check whether all the cables from your dishnetwork are fine and connected firmly. Turn off the TV for 3-4 hours and turn it ON and check if the lines appears gradually, if yes then its the demagnetizing circuit that has gone bad or else it's the STK IC that needs to be replaced.

If you have repair knowledge or can deal with soldering, desoldering components on the TV board then you can replace these IC's. You'll also need to replace the 2 resistors next to the IC's.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks

You didn’t tell what model, is it a plasma TV? And you said it was a vertical line, but from left side to right side???
If it’s a vertical line, you need a new panel.
If it’s a horizontal line, check the ribbon cable connection first (open the back cover, on your left hand side). Or you may need to replace the Y upper(or lower) driver board, depends on the location of the line.

You can try to clean and reconnect the COF (matches the lines location on the bottom). Mostly the panel is bad, no repairable.

Multiple vertical white lines

hi,
As you mentioned its sounds like the X buffer (Right and left) of your tv is faulty. There are two boards in your tv for driving the X plane of the plasma panel. Normally you can find these board on the top or bottom portion of the TV. . Its part numbers are Right buffer board is 6870QSC107A 6871QRH073A and Left buffer board i EAX35683901 EBR35855501. Before purchasing the boards identify which board is faulty. That you can find easily. Check which portion of the screen have vertical line in right or left side of the panel. The board for that side is faulty.
You can find these boards on the following link.

VIZIO P42hd PS42a plasma Picture has two vertical lines (one red/orange, one blue) going down the right-hand side of the screen. Lines are clearly visible

The panel is almost certainly bad. The only fix for this is to replace the whole panel which would cost more than the whole TV.

Thin red line in middle of screen on nec 42 inch plasma monitor

I had the same problem -red, vertical bars along the right side of my Samsung 42" Plasma- and this is what fixed it: Removed unterminated cable.
I had hooked up an HD video camera to the set about two weeks ago. While I disconnected the camera I left the other end of the connector cable plugged into the T.V.. As I've since learned from friends who work in television, this is what's called an "unterminated cable" -meaning one end is unconnected. It can lead to problems with electrical interference and appears to have been the problem in this case; When I disconnected this cable from the T.V. the red bars went away.
So, check your cables. Make sure everything is properly connected and get rid of anything that might be picking up interference.

P2 42HD - Picture OK on right half ... vertical bars & black on left side

I just got quoted $705 from the Vizio certified repair partner. Nice. Nice and way too expensive. I may as well buy a new TV instead. It certainly won't be a Vizio. They told me a I needed a Y systainer, C systainer and a right-driver board.

Lame. I'm trying to find something local.

Vertical Red Line

I had a bright red 1" wide vertical line on the right side of my Vizio P42HDE as well as an equivalent Green line on the left. Sometimes a Blue line would appear adjacent to the red line. Had this TV sinc Oct. 2005. Based on internet research, I opted to purchase an LG 6871QCH060Q board (upgrade to the 6871QCH038A and the 6871QCH038C). Picked the board up on Ebay for $100 + $10 shipping from ShopJimmy parts.

From start to finish, this took about 2 hours to repair. Tons of screws to remove. Took me a while to figure out that the video connection unit in the back is completely modular and needs to be removed before attempting to remove the back cover. Once the cover was removed, I was surprised that I could not see where the replacement board was located. Turns out, you have to go one level deeper and remove the audio board and digital board followed by metal bracket/cover. Once removing the metal cover, the bad 6871QCH038A board was visible. A couple of zip ties will need to be cut as well as several cable connections to get to the 6871QCH038A board. Replaced the board with the 6871QCH060Q upgrade. Make sure to keep the sticky foam rubber isolation pieces and adhere them to the new board. It did take some time to figure out how to disconnect and reconnect all the various types of cable connections. Just take your time. The power cable connector for the 6871QCH060Q board is in a different location, thus I had to reroute the cable. Reassembled and only had 2 unused screws left!

TV workd great. Lines are gone. Have a little burn-in going on where the red line appeared, but still better than forking over $800 for a new 42" LCD 1080P TV. Hope to get a couple of more years out of this Vizio.

One line I found has a general example of LG/Vizio repair manual. Not exact, but close enough...http://www.scribd.com/doc/7580885/LG-TV-Plasma-Training-Manual
