Dryer doesn't start at all. When you turn the timer knob it makes the low buzzing sound that it always does until you hit the start button. But now it doesn't start at all. I've checked all the sensors and the heating element and everything has continuity. im not sure how to test the motor itself, I don't know how to get to it. Any help is appreciated. The motor in the timer ( a clock motor) is dead. Replace the complete timer assembly for restored service. A dryer that does not stop may cause a fire. FSP makes 99% ? of all apliance parts and it should be easy to find a replacment.
Hi. im assuming the buzz came from the timer knob(behind the knob). if so, this will confirm timer failure and, you will need to replace this timer control module in order to restore proper function to your unit.
If the buzz was located behind the start switch, replace as well.
Remove and inspect the timer knob for a crack or missing tension clamp.
Carefully place it back on the timer shaft while paying attention to the (D) shape in the knob and the shaft.
If they are aligned correctly notice where the position arrow is pointing, ie; off---run--etc.
You may well need a new knob.
Depending on your interpretation of the 'buzzing' sound compared to mine, I'd say it may be a relay chattering or the motor trying to start up but the windings are beginning to fail. You may want to clean the motor housing from dust etc and make sure that you do that with the power disconnected. Also: with no clothes in teh dryer..try rotating it around and feel for any spots in that rotation that may be binding.. if the drum has excessive restriction while rotating.. the motor may not have enough torque to overcome that and just buzz,,, Hope that helps...
