Question about RCA 25202RE3 Corded Phone

Cannot record OGA on RCA 25205 corded 2-line phone. I follow instructions, it appears to record, but there is no playback when I press exit. When I go to OGA playback, it indicated that the announcement is EMPTY.

    Joe,

Thanks, pressing SEL/SAV a second time to stop the recording did the trick..(The manual was wrong!), BUT *** while it now answers with the outgoing message, when I call it from another phone and try to leave a message; it is not picking up. What am I missing?

  • gbekey Aug 01, 2009

    Joe,

Now I can record an outgoing message, but the answering machine is not picking up calls. There should be a beep after the OGA, and then it should record the incoming message. When I call that line from another phone I hear the outgoing announcement, but when I try to leave a message nothing is recorded.

I suspect this is something very simple...please tell me what to do, so I can accept the solution and quit bugging you.

    Thanks,

    -George

  • gbekey Aug 01, 2009

    Joe,

that's not the problem. I had Configure OGA set correctly to PERSONAL. Here is what happens: After it answers and plays the outgoing message it gives a DIAL TONE so that it is not possible to leave a message.

    What is wrong?

    -George

Thank you...Expert No 1 pointed out the error in the manual; then Expert No 2 suggested disconnecting and starting over; now it works perfectly.

There is a misprint in the instructions.

In the section titled "Out-Going Announcement RECORD" on last step it says Press Exit to stop recording. It should have said Press Sel/Save.

Do this and it will work.

Repeat for Line 2 if you are doing both lines.

Next thing is to make sure you go right to the section titled "Configure Out-Going Announcement" and select the right type of message you want callers to hear for each line.

Worked like a charm and took 3 seconds to get 2 different personal messages on the machine.

If the whole procedure isn´t working for the first time, unplug the phone, remove the batteries, and reinstall after 15 minutes.

Please leave a rating!

Hello. I can help you. Please get back to me if you have other questions I am also sending you a link to the complete manual just in case you don't have one.

Let's start over with your machine.

STEP ONE: To start over, press the Exit button to return to the
PHONE SETTING menu. This is critical

STEP TWO: go to page 19 where it says "
Out-Going Announcement RECORD
and then go step by step.

Remember that the SEL/Save button is pushed so you can start to record and then pushed a second time to end your recording.

Good luck. Get back if you need more assistance.

Hello again. Good, I am pleased to learn that your initial problem has been solved.

Here is a link to the manual for your use.

    http://www.rca4business.com/products/pc/...

Please explain exactly what you want it to do that it won't do.

  • Joe Hogan Aug 01, 2009

OK now it appears that it is set to "ANNOUNCE ONLY" which means that it will tell your message but will not allow the incoming call to leave a message. To get out of that here is what you do: [note that when you get to step 7 you want to set it to personal, not announce only].

    Configure Out-Going Announcement

    1. Press the Menu button.

    2. Use the 5 or 6 to scroll to ANSWERING SYS.

    3. Press the Sel/Save button.

    4. Use the 5 or 6 to scroll to CONFIG OGA.

    5. Press the Sel/Save button.

    6. Use the | or }to scroll to L1 or L2.

    7. Then use the 5 or 6to scroll to desired OGA for answering.

    DEFAULT

    PERSONAL

    ANNOUNCE ONLY

TIMED (this is for WORK HOURS and AFTER HOURS OGAs)

    8. Press the Sel/Save button to save. To start over, press the Exit button to return to the

    ANSWERING SYS
    menu.

NOTE: After the call is answered,

I can record an OGA, but when people call they get the automated default message. How can I set the OGA so that it replaces the default message?

Once you record your own message, it replaces the default one. If callers are still getting a different announcement, it's likely they aren't ever reaching your machine. Make sure that your telephone line voicemail service isn't picking up the calls instead. I've known several people with this same trouble, and they needed to modify their home voicemail (or whatever your service provider calls theirs) settings or turn it off. Then their phone answering machines worked properly.

How do I record a message in my rca visys phone to be played when someone calls in?

Melissa is correct about the manual being wrong. You have to press the Sel/Save button, not the Exit button after recording a personal message. Then you have to follow the directions on page 23 to Configure each line to Personal Message.

I left my Vtech phone in New York, left for Europe and forgot to set the answering machine on. When I call in I get a factory recorded announcement that I'm not available, etc. I have my PIN # with me,...

Can you please specify the exact model of the phone? Because the steps in accessing it remotely varies from model to model. Anyway, you can try to follow the steps posted here and then test:

Remote operation allows you to control the functions of the Answering System when you
are away from the Base, and call from an outside telephone line. The Answering
System cannot be accessed from another telephone on the same line. You can access
many of the Answering System functons from a remote location, such as listening to
messages, changing recorded announcements, and recording memos.
Remote operation can only be accessed from a touch tone telephone. If the remote phone
is set to pulse dialing, switch it tone. If tone dialing is not available, you will not be able
to access the Answering System.
Note: All function codes should be entered within 2 seconds in order to activate Remote
Operation.
To Activate Remote Operation From a Different Telephone Line
1. If the Answering System is OFF, you can dial your telephone number and wait for
the Answering System to answer your call after 10 rings. An announcement, "Please
enter your security code" is given, and you enter your security code to use remote
operation.
2. If the Answering System is ON, it will answer your call and begin playing the currently
selected announcement (as with any incoming call).
3. Enter # followed by your 2 digit security code during the announcement. The
default security code is 19.
4. Once the security code is received, a double confirmation beep will be given, and
you are in Remote Operation mode. You can then control the Answering Machine
functions using the telephone keypad.
5. The user can also enter the Remote Operation mode during message recording. The
procedure is the same as step 3. The recording will be stopped after entering the
valid security code "s#xx " and the incomplete message will be deleted. If " 0s"
is entered, the Answering System will release the line, but the recorded message
will still be retained.
6. If the user enters a wrong security code, the system will release the line.
Playing Messages Remotely
1. Press " #1 ", " #2 " or " #3 " on the touch tone keypad to play the messages in the
corresponding mailbox.
2. The system will announce "Mailbox X. You have XX new messages and XX old
messages" and the system will playback the new message only. If there are no new
messages, the system will announce "Mailbox X. You have XX old messages. On
the other hand, in the absence of old messages, the system will announce only the
number of new messages.
Repeat Messages During Playback
1. Press "#4" once during message playback to repeat the current message.
2. Press "#4" twice within 2 seconds to skip to the previous message.
Skip Messages During Playback
1. Press "#6" once to skip forward to the next message.
Stop Message Playback
1. Pressing "#5" during message playback will stop playback.
Deleting Messages
1. Press "#9" once during message playback to delete the current message.
Note: Playback will pause if "#" or " " is entered. Answering System will wait for the
command in the following 2 seconds. If no further tone is entered, playback will be resumed.
Memo Recording
1. Press " 8".
2. After selecting the mailbox by entering command "1", "2", "3", You will hear, "Now
recording", followed by a beep.
3. Enter "#5" to stop recording when you have finished.
Change OGM Remotely
1. Enter " 7" to record a new OGM. You will hear, "Now recording", followed by a
beep to signal start of recording.
2. Press "#5" to stop recording. Your new OGM will playback automatically.
Check OGM1 Remotely
Enter "#7" to review OGM. You will hear playback of OGM followed by a beep.
Turning Answering System ON or OFF
Pressing "#0" toggles the Answering System ON/OFF. "Answer machine on", or "Answer
machine off" will be announced, followed by a beep.
Voice Menu for Remote Operation
The system provides two pre-recorded voice menus to help you during remote operation.
Press " 5", and you will hear the simple voice menu.
The simple voice menu is as follows:
• Press "#1" to play mailbox 1.
• Press "#2" to play mailbox 2.
• Press "#3" to play mailbox 3.
• Press "#5" to stop.
• Press "#4" to repeat the message.
• Press "#6" to skip the message.
• Press "#9" to erase the message.
• Press " 5" for other functions.
(To advance voice menu)
The advanced voice menu is as follows:
• Press "#7" to review outgoing message.
• Press " 7" to record outgoing message.
• Press " 8" to record memo.
• Press "#4" twice to repeat previous message.
• Press "#0" to turn the system on or off.
• Press " 5" to return to the simple voice menu.
Pressing any function code will stop the voice menu, and perform the corresponding
functions.
Exiting Remote Operation
1. Enter " 0" on the touch tone keypad to exit remote operation mode. The Answering
System confirms your action with a long beep and then disconnects.
2. The Answering System also automatically disconnects if no key is pressed within 20
seconds during remote operation.

Need setup help for ep5962

first set day and time... menu, mailboxes, set day/time, scroll to day, set, select, ok... then scroll to current time, set, dial pad four digits, 2 for am or 7 for pm, select save. now power on line 1 or 2 or both. phone is preprogrammed with 'hello, please leave a message after the tone.' to record your own use menu, mailboxes, select setup 1 or 2, then review/chng oga, then record new oga, then ok. record when screen changes, choose stop when you're done. shortcut: press and hold record, press and release mailbox line x, release when finished. you only record one line at a time, so you can have different messages on each line. even if it's the same, you must record each line. since you can only record one message the shortcut would be useful for an 'out to lunch, be back about 1-30' sort of message. then re-record a standard message when you get back from lunch. 'course, you really don't need an 'out to lunch' message, since people are accustomed to answering machines at any time of day. all the caller needs to know is that 'i can't get to the phone right now.' and they appreciate it when you keep it short.

RCA 25205 wont answer correctly

Yeah, I've wasted all morning messing with this. My personal outgoing message keeps reverting back to default. I just got off the phone with RCA and here's the fix for that part of the problem. Go into "Configure Out-Going Announcement" (page 23) and then select "personal," This finally made it stay there. The number I called for help is 1-800-511-3180, or 1-866-285-4651. Good luck!

My new RCA Model 25205RE1-1 1815MO does not want to record a OGA. It appears to be recording as it so states and counts the seconds as you are speaking. I press EXIT and the OGA is not played...

The RCA Manual in incorrect. Step 8 reads "Press Set/Save to start recording. Speak within 6 inches away from the Mic located under SPEAKER button." Step 9 reads "Press EXIT to stop recording." Step 10 reads "The OGA is played automatically for your verification. It will then return to the OGA REC menu to start over or to record another OGA."

Step 9 should read "Press Set/Save to stop recording and the OGA is played automatically for your verification."
Step 10 should read "Press EXIT if recording is acceptable. Press Set/Save if you want to re-record."

By following the Manual you never save your message. "Playback" always has the Default message that comes on the machine. Furthermore, Customer Service at 310-953-9028 doesn't have a clue.
