I have a Consew 210 and I am trying to slow it down. I was told to put a smaller pulley on the motor and a larger one on the machine. Is that correct. The motor has a 60mm pulley now.

SOURCE: how do you slow down the consew 206rb

You don't say if it is a clutch motor or a servo motor. They answer to your question is yes you can slow it down by either motor (usually a knob or switch) and by pulley. If you don't have a servo motor I would strongly urge you got contact Cobra Steve at leather sewing machine company (google it) Tell him you want one of the smart servo motors with needle position-er (needle up and down automatically)
His smart servo motors are also modified so they work very similar to home sewing machines... with graduated speed based on how hard you press the pedal.

But if you must and want to stick with a clutch motor... you might try this fellow's hack.

What needles do you use for a Consew 206RB-5 for topstitching jeans very heavy cotton thread? The new designer top stitch. and Can [email protected]

Hello Linda, The information I have on the Consew 206RB-5 is that it is a walking foot machine that has a needle system 135X17 also known as DPX17. Needles in that class range in size from 80/12 (narrowest) to 180/24 (widest) However, They do make larger sizes up to 200/25 in a leather point. Keep in mind, the smaller the needle size, the smaller the needle eye is. I make truck tarps out of 18 ounce heavy vinyl. I use a 140/22 size needle with a 138 size thread. As to what you are sewing, I think a midrange size such as 120/19 or 125/25 will do for you. It also depends on the size of thread you use. Good luck, I hope this helps you.

TIming Consew 210

I am not sure about this particular machine but in most machines there will be a nob on the front loose low numbers like 0 1 -2 work well on number 3. If the nob is not on the front check and see if it is on the side.

Consew sewing machine 210 model slack stitch underneath, have put in new needle cleaned everything, oil level good, tension discs cleaned but still having dramas.

Assuming your top thread tension at no.4 or mid range, still not good, check your bobbin thread tension ok or not. If tight try reduce the tension. Problem persist, possibly bobbin case tension spring dirty or ageing.

Hi, I just acquired a consew 206RB machine but not the manual. It starts very fast so,I'd like to know if it has a speed control. Thanks

I slowed mine down by replacing the pulley on the head with a larger pulley that I bought at the local hardware store. All of the internal parts slowed down by the same amount so after 20 years it still works fine.

I used a 6 inch pulley (about $10.00) with a 1/2 inch center hole. Finding the right size of drive belt was the hardest part of the whole operation.

There are only two screws that hold that pulley on. One of them is a set screw very near the small center hole that stops the pulley from spinning on the drive shaft.

I'm using a 206RB-1 for house furniture

Just got the Consew 206RB-5 Are there any instructions how to put together the table and the machine i just got? Thanks

You need someone to do it because you have to get the motor and the belt in the correct place, you can't do it by instructions over the web

Can not start at a slow speed with foot pedal need to now how to adjust start speed

THE FOOT PEDLE IS NOTHING BUT A REASTAT. A REASTAT IS A WIRE WRAPPED AROUND A CONDUCTOR THE WINDINGS START OUT FAR APART AND GET CLOSER TOGETHER THE FARTHER YOU PUSH THE PEDLE DOWN . THE FAR APART WIRES ARE THE SLOW SPEED THE CLOSER ONES ARE FASTER SPEED
THESE WIRES WILL WEAR OUT OVER TIME OR CORRODE OVER TIME AND CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. TRY SOME ELECTRICAL CONTACT CLEANER AND SPRAY THE FOOT PEDLE INSIDE ANY WHERE YOU CAN AND LET DRY. MOST CONTACT CLEANERS ARE NONE CONDUCTIVE AND DRY IN MINUTES

Tacsew lu-563 sewing machine

Generally going to have to be addressing the drive motor, either substituting a lower speed clutch motor for the existing one, ie if you have 3000 rpm motor, then going to a 1725 rpm motor. Alternatively, selling the clutch motor and buying a servo motor instead, which should be available with a variable maximum speed control. The Sewquiet 4000 can select different speed ranges with the flick of a switch. If you already have a servo motor and it does not have a variable max speed, then switching the drive pulley on the servo motor to a smaller size should help
A more convoluted solution would be building a support under the table for a layshaft with different pulley sizes so that the motor could drive one pulley and then a smaller pulley on the shaft would drive the sewing machine. Not a bolt on solution but pretty cheap to do if you are good at fabricating.
