Question about LG RZ-42PY10 42 in. HDTV Plasma
I have a LG RZ-42PY10 42" Plasmareen which changes to red after 10-15 mins and then turns off.What could it b?
This is a cooling problem; the i.c. "chroma" chip is cooled by the use of a silicone cream (this can be purchased at Radio Shack stores or; online; and, fans (if the temperature gets too high the tv will;by design: shut off for safety, so; first: check to see that the fans on the back of your tv are not blocked with lint or, not running at all (listen / feel) then: if you feel confident; open the case and, observe the fans; check the temperature of the chips and, the condition of the cream (must not be dried out) unplug first! you can also use component cooler freon to spray the chroma chip to cool it while it runs; be carefull! while the tv is plugged in! Thanks for using FixYa. The red tint on the screen is due to a bad lamp or a faulty inverter board. It could also be a dry joint somewhere in the drive electronics. Lamp faults are often intermittent as they can be dependent on temperature among other things. This can make internal shorts come and go. Service Engineers will often take the back off the set and gently tap the neck of the tube to prove or disprove the lamp problem.
Please get this checked as disassembling the tv could be very dangerous as it has very high charge even when its switched off.

Hi, this description usually indicates power supply failure, you can verify this by checking the output voltage of power supply. Cause of the error can be electrolyte capacitors. You can identify them by swelling at the top of the condenser. If you have the technical ability? so there are a few more options for testing. In any case always possible to replace all power supply.
