If its the original radio .Fuse should be underneath dash driver side it should be 10amp or less (red ) .If it is an aftermarket radio , check jeep fuse first if not fuse will be at back of radio harness or radio chassis

that is always what to do when any electrics die.
check fuses
same fuses for both radio options.
fuse 1 and 20.
fuse 2 is memory

Not sure but I advised you before!!
Any way last time!
You have to t/s the moment the fuse blows and elimate the systems (short) connected to that fuse, for sample, dis connect the interior light, install fuse, if it blows than it is NOT the interior light, keep going till you find the short!

according to the wiring diagrams for a 1999 cherokee the fuse for the power amp is under the hood. its a 20 amp

the power amp feeds off fuse 26 in the fuse block under the hood...its a 20 amp fuse...cant find a pic that shows the exact position

2005 jeep grand cherokee radio


It's in the engine compartment IOD#2. It's a black module with two fuses in it. Take that module off and replace the 20 AMP one.
