Refresh my memory cause I'm older than dirt but does your alarm have a little antenna on the windshield? No ? Yes? If yes i want you to unplug the antenna and replug it in if you can. Did you have your windshield replaced or did you put tint on where the antenna is? Both of those can drastically cut down the range.
Now if you do not have a windshield antenna you are going to have to crawl your *** under the dash and find the alarms "brain". Is that possible? If you can, i need you to look for a little black wire coming out of the brain kinda all by itself, ok, do you see it? that Pilgrim is your antenna wire and notice if it is wrapped around other wires? Or is it stretched out like you lying on the couch?? That's kinda good. What you want to do is to move that antenna wire to where it runs north and south (up and down for all you techy types) anyhow i like to even loosly secure it somewhere up in the dash and BONUS POINTS awarded if you find metal because that will act as an extension giving you even somewhat longer range which is what you want. Play around with various settings and placements because every ride is different. good luck, let me know if that does not solve the problem.

I have a viper 7701 remote that just stopped working. Battery is new. Do I have to re program something

If it is the OE (original equipment) key fob, meaning if it is the alarm remote control that came with the original purchase of the car it should not need reprogramming. If it is an aftermarket alarm then it may need reprogramming, more information is required to answer the question.
This is a common issue and the most common problem is that the solder joints holding the battery in the proper location. If any of these are broken the remote will not function. It can be fixed with a little solder or if your uncomfortable with doing it yourself, take it to a computer repair store (they can fix it ONLY if you have a broken solder point).
Take the key fob to the closest auto parts store (aka. autozone, o'reilly's, advance) and near the counters they have a key fob testing equipment (FREE). If the remote is working a light will blink when you push the key fob button while close to the testing equipment. If the testing light shows that the fob is working but does NOT unlock your doors, it needs reprogrammed. If the testing light doesn't blink at all, repair or replacement of the key fob is indicated.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Central locking not working on 2002 ford focus changed battery in fob cant find fuse 63

The key and car might need re-synchronising after changing the battery or pressing the buttons too many times when out of range.

Put the key in the ignition and turn the key to position 2 and back four times within 6 seconds.
After a beep the car is in programming mode for the next 10 seconds.
Press any button on the remote fob to synchronising.

I changed the battery in the alarm key and now it doesnt work at all. what did i do wrong?

Vehicle key fobs work on a continuosly and randomly changing frequency so that no ones key fob should open anyone elses cars. Whenever you press the buttons, or someone unlocks your doors, the frequency is changed. The fob and computer in the car have a few codes stored so that if you press the button too many times out of range of the car it will still know what frequency should be transmitting. However if your battery dies, or you press the button too many times while out of range, you Fob and computer will be out of sync.

Long story short you may need to have your Fob re-programmed. You may fine this info in your owners manual, but will probably have to go to the dealer.

The other issue it could be is something i have heard of a few times for the chrysler FOBs, the solder in the fob that holds the connection for the battery may have broken, which will mean your battery is not connected right. You may want to consider popping it apart and taking a look to see if the solder is cracked at all.

The battery on my viper 5501 ran down. I plugged it in to recharge and now it won't work. The back-up key fob does work. how can i reset it? thanks very much.

Are you talking about the Remote LCD key fob itself? If you are then you need to replace the battery. Search on ebay. Hopefully this helps.

07 Buick Lucerne seems like I have to be right next to the car for the the remote starter to work is there a certain spot I should be aiming for? It wont start my car from inside my house let alone any...

The battery may have gone weak in your remote. The gm system will never have as far of a range of and aftermarket system, so do not expect that.

Also There is an update kit for the chevy impala I do not know if this applies to the Lucerne but I would think it will seeing as they are the same platform car. This kit is to make the range better for the Key fob system. But like I say don't get your hopes up I'm not sure It applies to your car?
Good day to you.

1994 Dodge Viper will not start after storage and battery drain.

With the battery charger connected or a jumper battery simply click the alarm key fob on and then off. This will reset the alarm and the car should start...had mine towed to find this out

Key fob won't unlock or lock car VW Golf 2000

You probably caused a short circuit when you changed the light. Change fuse #14. Next time, don't turn the lights on until you are finished changing the lights.
