No, it will cost as much for a new machine as it would to get it repaired.

My HP Photosmart C5240 will print from computer but will not scan or make copies.

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on
Scanner System Failure
Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
Scanner failure, cycle power

You may want to try following these steps:
1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product.
2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer.
3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.

If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.

Printing error message OxC18a050a unable to print

Hi
This is the error message which refers to ink system failure, printer shows this message when the ink system of the printer would not allow you to printer

Please follow the the steps given below
Make sure that the printer's power cord is connected to the walljack (Avoid if there is any surge protector or extension cord) Take out all the ink cartridges Take a clean cloth, dampen it in distilled water and with that cloth clean copper contacts of the cartridges firmly Let them dry for 2 minutes Unplug all the cables from the back of the printer while printer is turned on (After closing all the doors that are open and also keep the cartridges out) After 2 minutes, plug in the power cable Put the ink cartridges in one by one, then close all the doors again Printer would start going through some maintence and then would start aligning the ink cartridges All the best!! Have problem with my HP D7160, 3 years old. It show "Ink System Error", Error:Oxc19a0002. I tried to reset, and try to clean print head, but don't know how

Hi there
Solution 1:

1. Press and hold "left arrow" key
2. Press the "setup" key and release both keys
3. Press and release the "OK" button
4. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”. 2. Press and release the “OK” button.
5. Display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to “Hardware failure status”,
6. Press and release the “OK” button.
7. Display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”.
8. Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue”.
9. Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the “Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.
10. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
11. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer
12. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER” followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”. Press OK.
13. If the printer has already initialized, then go to the next step. If not, the printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
14. To verify printer functionality print a SELF TEST PAGE. If SELF TEST prints, then printer is ready for use or Software Installation.
15. If the error is still there, or reoccurs the printer is already defective.
Solution 2:

1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
4. Wait two minutes.
5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
6. Press the On button to turn the printer on.
7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

HP 1610 "scanner Failure" message

It MIGHT be that the unit is no good. The downside of ALL IN ONE products. BUT, unplug the power cord from the back of the all in one, then unplug the USB cable, then unplug power cord from wall. Wait 10 minutes and plug everything back in in reverse order and see if it works. If not it is bad.

2175 printer

This is a typical error with the 2175 / 2100 series.
1.) Error comes up if ink in cartridge's ink level gets too low.
2.) The ink cartridge's copper contacts are dirty. Dirt you can't see. Clean contacts with alcohol & cotton swab's (not dripping).
3.) The carridge contact's need cleaning. (Same as above).
4.) The cartridge, (even though new, can be defective).
5.) You are using a "refill kit" of some kind to refill ink cartridge's.
6.) After 1-5, re-set the printer. Power off printer wait a minute & power back on.

Scanner failure messege.

I put new bulbs my printer for the same error message, 2 bulbs with freight cost me $49.00. Now instead of error message after 10 or so minutes, it almost immediate. The tech folks in California says 95% of the time the bulbs fix this issue, but when it does not, it is the "board" at a cost of about $90.00. HP 7110 must have this issue and junk is my opinion at this time. Let me know how you come out.
