Blower don't work to help cool off laptop

I'll say the bearing seized up and is full of house dust.
These are a PAIN to take apart!!!!!

I got mine apart and CUT the mounting plate to get it out.

Normally a 6 V. DC fan. See if the fan blades rotate at all. Check for power at the fan terminals. Put 6 V. to the motor terminals to see if will turn on.

Fan Error on IBM T41

This is normally the CPU fan - is it working?
Is it connected to CPU fan socket on mainboard or a different socket - it must be connected to correct socket or fan will not be detected?

Hi - first check that all the fans are rotating - the set will shut down if they are not.
***** WARNING potentially FATAL voltages (up to 400V DC) exist on the PSU boards - if you don't know exactly what you are doing don't ! *******
Unfortunatly the fault could be on a) PSU b) CPU board, as this monitors the PSU voltages and will shut down the set if the measured voltages are wrong c) plasma drive circuits - if these are drawing excessive current, or someother fault exists the fault feedback signal to the CPU board will activate and the set will again shut off.
Check the PSU voltages, the standby power must be OK otherwise the set wouldn't work at all !. The +5V switches on first followed by the +70V and +170V (about 1-2 secs delay.)

If the 70 and 170 dont come up try removing (with the power DISCONNECTED) the two large double row connectors on the PSU board near the 70/170 V test points - these supply the plasma drive circuits - the set will still switch off as there is a fault feedback line from the drivers, but it should stay on long enough to check the voltages.
