I do not have an answer, but do have the same camera with the same night time problem. I have just used it for the first time and all the night pictures are black. I assume the flash is not going off. I have a second one that I will test as well. Maybe some one knows something else but I find now way to toggle the flash off and on.
For many of these types of Trail Cams, you cannot instruct it to overwrite images, you just need to reformat the SD card using the camera's menu option for that function.
When troubleshooting
problems with your photographs, you need to be able to distinguish between
problems created by the camera and problems created by the, ahem, photographer.
Some things, like a finger over half of the shot or a totally out of focus
picture of your own feet are not camera malfunctions. Fortunately, most of what
appear to be "malfunctions" are things you can correct through
settings. Blurry pictures usually result in pressing the shutter button down
before the autofocus kicks in; half-tap the shutter to bring the camera into
focus then press it all the way down to take a clear shot. Grainy photos are the
result of a high ISO value and low light; use a tripod or, if necessary, the
flash when taking pictures in low light. Different makes and models have
different ways to warn you that the light is low: some display a shaking hand
icon, others a red light. Look for this and adjust photo settings.
Two possibles: either the IR flash is bad,or the day/night sensor is bad.Unless you have parts from another M80,best bet is to try Moultrie support and send it in. However, they may tell you to buy another camera.
If it takes no pictures then you set it for day only. If it takes pictures that are black then the capacitor that controls the flash is not functional.
OK, I think that this is a problem with the flash not working correctly, and you are within the warranty period, I'm hoping, so that you can get it replaced.
Power shouldn't be an issue since you have a solar panel.
