I have alenovo ibm thinkpad R60 laptop but it does not starts in battery aswell as in ac.Sometimes it get started but after few seconds it automatically shutdowns.

Apart from possibly failed battery and/or adapter, spontaneous shutdowns can be signs of overheating or PREVIOUSLY overheated processor, regardless of make or model.

First step is to disconnect BOTH the battery and adapter, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to release any static electricity then try powering it up with ADAPTER ONLY, then BATTERY ONLY, then BOTH; just to check which setup would repsoduce the symptom.

If the above steps do not isolate the cause of the problem, test the machine with a spare battery and/or adapter (or test your computers battery & adapter on a similar machine) to see if the problem follows the computer itself. If it does, then the next step is to reapply thermal compound to the processor.

If that doesn't make it work correctly, then the processor and motherboard will have to be tested for functionality and one or both of them may have to be replaced.

My problem with the Gigabyte GA-8I848P-G Motherboard is when i press the power button I do not hear the speaker beep I also do not see the display on my monitor screen after a few seconds my cpu is...

Hi, what you have not tested for isolation is your power supply, re-seating of processor for 20 minutes, cmos clearing or battery removal and mother board swapping. If all your isolation seems futile the worst is the mother board.

Five long beeps at a range of five seconds then, repeats

Five long beeps for a modern motherboards indicates a processor failure. If you wish to remove the processor and re-seat it (reconnect it to see if it begins to work again) make sure to get some thermal compound to put between the CPU chip and the heatsink. POST AMI BIOS beep codes

  • 2 - Parity error in base memory (first 64 KiB block)
  • 3 - Base memory read/write test error
  • 4 - Mother board timer not operational (check all PSU to MB connectors seated)
  • 5 - Processor failure
  • 6 - 8042 Gate A20 test error (cannot switch to protected mode)
  • 7 - General exception error (processor exception interrupt error)
  • 8 - Display memory error (system video adapter)

I turned it off. Next morning there was no screen when I turned it on.

Hi,

Please perform the following steps:

Power drain process:

1. Shut the computer down.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery.
3. Press the power button down for about 30-60 seconds.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and the battery.
5. Restart the computer.

Alternately you can test your Notebook power by removing and inserting the Memory and Hard-Disk in their locations.

My Lenovo N500 does not want to startup but there is a light that stays on all the time, it is next to the start button

The light that stays on is probably a power indicator. Remove AC adapter and battery. Hold power button down for 20 seconds. Put battery back in and reconnect AC adapter. Try to start your computer.

Lenovo 3000 n100 won't power up

Hello,

I had posted the Aug 19, 2008 comment about having this problem twice. I tried a new universal AC adapter, and it worked! (new adapter is a Targus APA63US) Now battery is charging and laptop also runs on AC alone. So perhaps it's an adapter problem instead of a battery problem. Get one at a store with a good return policy, so if it doesn't work for you, just return it. And if it does work, then happier days. I've had mine about 2 weeks. So far so good, though with what I've learned about Lenovo since having this problem, it wouldn't surprise me if something else goes wrong, or if the damn thing just blew up, ha ha. Also, this adapter set me back about $100 that I really should not have needed to spend! arrgggh ...

Cheers and Best of Luck and hope this helps other frustrated Lenovo owners!

Will not boot up or turn on though it is getting power

The Charger could be bad, Try replacing that, or let charge, then try to turn on. The laptop might not boot with AC power. kinda stupid but maybe. If that doesn't work, the AC adapter is bad.
