Re: unit stuck on at a freeway location and vehicle speed...

I had the same problem. On the left side is the reset button. Press it with a pin, it will reset (but not lose any data), and it will start over in your new GPS location. You also might want to try downloading the new firmware (2.36), which is available on their website.

Since I am downloading it (104Mb), I don't know if it will fix the situation, but we shall see!

Nuvi will not turn on

What model Garmin Nuvi ???....
On occasion, your Garmin GPS may experience technical malfunctions, including failing to power up.
When this happens, perform a manual hard reset of the unit.
A soft reset entails holding the power button until the unit powers down, and then pressing the it again to power the device back up.
However, when the unit won't turn on, a soft reset won't work. In this case, a hard reset is the only way to get the device up and running again.

Unplug power and USB cables to disconnect all sources of power to the unit.
Place your thumbnail into the groove located below the Garmin logo on the face of the unit.

Pry the faceplate off using gentle pressure.
Press the reset button and hold for approximately 3 seconds.
When the device is facing you, the reset button is located in the middle of the right-hand side of the front of the device.

Snap the faceplate back into place.
Press the power button.
Your GPS should now turn back on.

Garmin Nuvi With No Power
A Garmin Nuvi is a type of GPS device that can help you find your way around when traveling by motor vehicle.
You can mount the Garmin Nuvi inside the windshield of your vehicle and allow it to acquire the satellite signal.
This tells the device where you're located.
After that, you can find simple directions to get to a new location by entering the address into your Garmin Nuvi.
If you find that your Garmin Nuvi has limited or no power, you will need to do some troubleshooting to get it to work.

Change the fuse within your unit's power cable.
If your Garmin Nuvi has no power, the fuse may be out, meaning the device cannot be charged.
Plug your Garmin Nuvi into the power supply of your vehicle and turn the vehicle on.
The device cannot charge and get power unless the vehicle is running.

Allow the Garmin Nuvi to charge fully.
You might be unplugging it from the power source too soon, which could cause the device to have little or no power.

Regulate the temperature of your Garmin Nuvi.
It may not function properly if the temperature is too cold, below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, or too hot, above 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

Do a master reset on the unit. restart and cross your fingers. If this does not resolve the problem you probably have an internal fault with the GPS unit.

Wire dieagram

In general GPS devices have 3 wires these are typically Power, Ground, and Ignition. They are *Usually* these colors; Power = Red, Ground = Black, Ignition = White. Additionally some older GPS units will require a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Connection, this wire can be found behind the dash cluster in most vehicles but will vary in color and location.

I have a hummingbird matrix 67 gps chartplotter fish finder. It developed a problem with the screen. The outer edges are legible, but the center is damaged. Is it worth repairing. Are there any other...

Hummingbird will refurbish that one for around 150US dollars, better then 500+ for a new one. If the screen is subjected to direct sunlight and heats up it can go out. This is why they discontinued the 67 model and replaced it with the 767.

I had a similar problem when I first connected my Cardo Scala Rider set to the helmet. First off, make sure that the volume on the Zumo is set to 100% for BOTH guidance and mp3 functions. Then click the upper control on the Cado Scala to maximize the volume of the headset. When you've accomplished those two electronic hurdles, adjust the location of the speakers in the helmet - if location of the speakers is not optimized nothing you do with the electronics will have much effect. I typically run the mp3 volume at 20% and the GPS at 50% with the headset volume at halfway. My Cardo Scala unit is a Teamset and I sometimes have problems hearing my rider scream that I'm going too fast. I haven't bothered yet to tell her to keep the microphone closer to her lips.

Kenwood DV4100

Check the navigation setup and make sure the voice guidance is set to on. If it is, then the installer didn't catch the right wire for vss. Had the same problem, after getting my unit professionally installed, figured it was a problem with unit so I upgraded to the G510 and installed the DV4100 in my other vehicle myself, caught the right vss wire and now the unit works perfectly, displays turn by turn and gives voice guidance. Read previous solutions, they really help.
