Solution didnt help

The link you sent me is broken. In addition, there are only 2 screws on the monitor, neither of which allows me to open it in any way. What can I do to get inside it besides smash it on a concrete slap?

Looks like a standard sceptre. Should be 4 screws on the back of the mnonitor in each corner. Plus maybe two just above the stand at the rear as well. Once removed, use something thin like a small screw driver to pry the front bezel off. This requires sticking a small flatthead screwdriver into the joint at the side of the screen's plastic bezel ans slightly prying it open (SLIGHTLY). start in a corner and while opening it up slightly pull forward on the frontbezel. This action will release the locking tab that holds the front bezel to the rear housing. You'll have to do this all around the screen. There are roughly 4 tabs for each side. Some of the screws by the way may be hiding behind stickers or sometimes small rubber covers. Once the front bezel is off, you'll need to detach the screen from the rear housing. Remove the button bar at the front once inside (three screws) then remove six silver screws that hold the screen to the stand. Lay the screen down on it's back wqhile doing this makes it a lot easier. Once loose, lift the screen from the housing. What do you want to do when you are inside?

My toshiba satellite m305 s4819 had a colored lines on the screen so I thought it was simple to fix so I open the screen and tried to open the inverter jack but it was small and hard to I used flat screw...

1) The FIRST thing you do when working on a computer, Desktop or Laptop, is to Remove Power.

2) The SECOND thing is to observe Anti-Static Precautions.

You need to disconnect the Video Cable, and the Inverter, FROM the motherboard.

This will ensure that the LCD screen, Backlight, and Inverter are taken out of the system.

You may have shorted across enough with the screwdriver, to just damage the electronic components on the Inverter.

With it connected in the system the computer will not turn on.

But I also want to take the Display Assembly, out of the 'equation' temporarily.

Of course the damage may be more extensive. Diagnose one step at a time.

Laptop off, monitor off; connect a VGA monitor to the VGA connector on the laptop.
Turn the monitor on, allow it to 'warm' up.

Turn the laptop on. If graphics do not automatically show up on the external monitor, press the Fn key, and hold it down, then tap the F5 key.

The F5 key is the toggle-over display key.
You can have;

1) Just the internal monitor of the laptop,
2) The internal monitor AND the external monitor,
3) Just the external monitor.

This is why you may have to tap three separate times.

Post your findings back in a Comment.

Samsung SyncMaster 193P, screen completely dead. Small blue power light comes on.

Same problem with my samsung 193p.only i got no picture in a background even when i was using flash lite. These procedure helped me.
"I just finished fixing my Samsung 193p LCD with similar problem. The problem was a black/blank screen as if it was off. But if you are going to use a bright flash light there was data in it. So I suspect it was the inverter.
Procedures made.
1. Disconnect the power adapter and the D-sub cable.
2. Remove the small philip screws at the back of the LCD and remove the cover.
3. Remove 4 philip screws.
4. Disconnect the 2 data cables.
5. Openning the white cover is tricky. Use a flat screw driver and press it at the bottom middle part and use a credit card and pry from the middle part going to left or right side.
6. Remove the philip screws (black) around the LCD.
7. Remove the 4 philip screws and 4 at the middle part.
8. Be careful removing the switch cable. It is very fragile one of the 4 wires might come out (I did but fix it).
9. The Inverter board is at the left side. Take and remove the 4 inverter cables and the white wide cable.
10. This is another tricky part. Near the white cable there is a FUSE (brown in color). Check if it is open. If yes, You can use 2 think wires and solder on both ends. (Be careful the size of the fuse is soooo small like a half grain of rice). Or if you have a car fuse you can also use it.
11. Resolder the 6 terminals of the each transformer. There are 2 transformer so 12 terminals in all.
12. Assemble the parts back and you are done.

Good Luck. Happy fixing.

Broken hinge in hp compaq nx6110

Two things you will have to do.

First, remove the bezel that is between the F keys on the keyboard and the monitor. There may be a couple of little screws from the back to allow you to remove the hinge cover. Once this is out, you see that there are 2 screws on each hinge that will have to be removed. After you have had all that fun, you will have to take the monitor apart by removing the screw covers that are between the glass and the edge of the monitor, then you will be able to separate the bezel, which is around the glass, from the back cover of the monitor. Walla, the hinge supports will all of a sudden appear, and you can remove them. Re-assemble in just the reverse.

Don't misplace any of the screws, and have a lot of fun.

Good luck, and feel free to rate this response.

We need to replace the switch that allows the spin cycle to work with the lid down. The back is one solid piece we dont know how to get to the timer to plug in the new switch we bought

What you are talking about is called the "lid switch". The following link explains how to replace one on a Kenmore top loader:

Make sure you check to see if the switch is simply loose. There should be some mounting screws holding it in place. In addition, there is usually a small plastic piece mounted on the washer lid on most Kenmores that activate the switch when the lid is closed. This is called a "lid strike". If the mounting screws are loose, or if the lid strike is broken or missing, the washer will exhibit the same symptoms as having a broken lid switch. For replacement parts, refer to and type in your complete model number (located along the washer lid opening). The parts you need will be listed under the "Top and Cabinet" heading.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Dell dimension monitor output broke away from motherboard and now i get no output to monitor to "wake it up", nevermind being able to see anything on it. As soon as i unplug the monitor cable from the pin...

Depending on how much it has broke away, you may be able to resolder it back on, or find someone who can. Other than that it will be a new board, I suspect.

It seems at least a few connections are OK, so probably worth a try, before scrapping it.
