Question about Philips Televison & Video

Open Question

Dead TV Philips 47pfl8404

Tried to switch on this morning and the Philips logo comes up as usual, then screen turns off and white light just blinks continually. Tried unplugging for a while and plugging back in but to no avail. I guess this is the main board, but could it be caused by adjusting the service menu? Surely not? I know they warn you against this but surely there's nothing that should do this to the tv? It was working fine all day yesterday until I switched off last night. I'm just worried that they might be able to tell I've been into the service menu and not refund my money.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: Philips 34PW9817 34" Shouts off and red light continuously blinks

I am having the same problems with my 34PW9817. I spoke with someone at a Philips service depot today regarding the problem and they suggested that I unplug the unit and leave it that way overnight. The tech told me that more often that I would expect, this solution fixes the problem. They mentioned something about this allowing the microprocessor to reset itself. If that doesn't work then I am supposed to expect a repair of between $210 and $265 for problems relating to the power supply. The backlog on getting the unit in and out of the service depot is about 5 days for my area (Denton, TX). I am planning to try the reset tonight but do not expect this to really do much. The problem didn't start until my last move (San Antonio -> Dallas) and other than this, I have had excellent service and picture quality out of the unit. Will update this post after I rectify the problem. David

SOURCE: tv won't come on

Sounds like the typical power surge created by the outage has caused a power supply problem inside your TV. IF that is it, there not much you can do yourself.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

The standby power supply resistors on the inverter board have changed values. You will replace resistors R1217, (820K 1/4 watt), R1218,(820K 1/4 watt) and R1219 (390K 1/4 watt). Please use the values just mentioned. Or you may have the inverter board replaced. Take this note to a TV repair Tech. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
