Samsung HLP5063W turns itself off

I have had this television for 3 years and have had no problems. Recently, the TV turns itself off with no indicator lights showing a problem. The set may go several days and not do this, but on some days it may turn itself off up to 3 times per hour.

I am having the same proble with my DLP. I am TV DUMB so if there is any way that someone can do a play by play as to what I need to do to fix this it would be awesome. And if the thermostat indeed does need changing than where might I locate this item?

    Thank you!

The TV turns itself off, and none of the 3 lights flash to indicate the problem for trouble shooting it. I've vacuumed out the back, even though it didn't need it, still the problem exists. The TV will not stay on.

I have the same issue, tv randomly turns itself off. It seems to do it mostly on startup (cold), then become increasingly infrequent as the tv gets warmers.

    1 after 3 mins, 1 after 5 mins, 1 after 20 mins, 1:30, 1:60, etc...

This leads me to think that there is a heat problem and makes the thermostat change sound like a good option.

Anyone have these issues and successfully resolve it?

I've had this HDTV just under 4 years and its just started this problem about a month ago, i.e., randomly turning itself off 1 or 2 times every evening of 4 hours watching. I, also, am looking for a solution.

Our "Samsung HLP5063W turns itself off several times in an evening, more often when the TV has been on a short time.

Rither the lamp door cover switch, or the thermostat has become intermittent..neither one is very expensive but soldering skills are needed

Tv shuts itself off

Look for the computer processor inside the TV. It needs to be cleaned. A can of compressed air will work. The processor is overheating and causing the tv to shut off. Look for the small fan that is supposed to keep the processor cool then remove the dust.

Good luck!

Only black and white

The same thing happened to my HLP5063W. Researching the internet forums I concluded the problem was with the color wheel, which I replaced. As it turns out the old one was completely smashed. Go to for replacement instructions.
