Question about Avanti WC3201D Wine Cooler

1 Answer

My Avanti wine cooler is not cooling any more.

Model #WC3201D (discontinued). I took it outside and removed all the dust that accumulates in the back using my air compressor. The unit is clean. It sits under my kitchen counter. The problem started about 2 months ago. The temperature on the unit shows 67 degrees but inside feels more like room temperature.

Turns off shortly after turn on

try blowing out the set and especially the three fans and the area around them---seen a number of these where a dirty fan will slow down just a little and even stop set from coming on at all or shutting down sometimes.

We usually roll them outside and with a aircompressor clean the set out, it usually looks like a dust storm.

I have had more than a few brought in that would not power up and as soon as cleaned outside, came up and worked.

The actual air intakes are on the front of the set and dust gets sucked into the unit.

My Dell Ultrasharp 1704FP started smoking from the top right hand side of screen...and it still displayed but i turned it off...any thoughts on this?

how old is it?? could be dust accumulated in the computer which can cause static and a computer to overheat

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor specifically around your central processing unit making VERY sure there is no moisture in the air line

as dust will cause a lot of static which will make a computer overheat and cause lots of problems

hope this helps

Can I remove the air filter to clean it or do I need to buy a new air filter to replace the old one?

i have a similar unit and noticed not much air was coming out and unit was not getting as cold so i looked at the filter and it had caked on dirt.So i removed it then it got my air compressor and went outside then blew all the dust from the unit now it works like new. Some people wash out the dirt but this ruins the filters.Make sure you wear something to cover your face from the dirt you would be surprised how much dust comes out of these units.

Cleaning of the fans

When I called Seville Support I was told that you can NOT open fan to clean and may not get it together if attempted (glad I stopped when I did!).
You need to use air pressure. After using much of a can of compressed air such as you would use on a keyboard and not getting too far, I broke out my seldom used air compressor which kicked out enough dust bunnies as to block out the sun. Hint: be sure to use outdoors. I'm happy to report both units working as good as new.

Don't have an air compressor? Ask your neighbor, he'll need the correct nozzle to 'blow air' (it comes in handy for many tasks).

Temperature began to warm up daily until now it just stopped cooling

Hi, I tried to cross the model number you gave with Avanti and it did not do an exact cross reference.

Usually when a cooler slowly warms up the causes can be

1. The Compressor is not running at full speed or has stopped running

2. The PTC start / run relay / Klixon assy mounted on the Compressor has failed

3. The run capacitor has failed.

4. The temperature control has failed.

If the compressor is running and it is NOT cooling then there is a coolant leak or the coolant system had become blocked usually in the capillary tube area.

The current model numbers for parts are here:

http://www.avantiproducts.com/parts-accessories/current/yes

And the Discontinued model parts are here:

Just note there are many aftermarket (like part) sources that will be much cheaper than Avanti sourced replacement parts. Most repair techs would advise you to use locally sourced replacement parts.

Fans on Mac Intel Tower

I would suspect it needs a good internal cleaning. The accumulated dust will cause the computer to overheat. Disconnect all cables and take the unit to a place where you can clean it. Remove the side panel and then with a can of compressed air or an air compressor blow all dust out of the unit. Pay special attention to the heat sink on the processor. Make sure you clean the power supply fan. Be sure and not touch any internal components without first grounding yourself to the chassis. It is best to do this outside as the dust will fly everywhere. You should clean the inside at least once a year. Merry Christmas.
