Car driving sluggish, then service engine light comes on

My 94 Saturn SC2 is driving sluggish, it then makes this bunk sound and the service engine light comes on right after and then all of sudden it just takes off, it makes a very loud noise and when I turn it off I hear a clicking sound coming from the back end of the car, it also has trouble going into reverse unless I ease off the gas while in reverse and just let it roll back on its own, could this be problems with my cataylic converter?

There is no reason to guess. If the check engine light is on, take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes that are stored there. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. Getting the codes will eliminate speculation and can save you time and money. Hope this helped and best wishes.

What is causing my 94 Saturn SC2 to loose power while driving on the highway at 60 mph

Possibly the throttle body is dirty and clogged and not allowing proper fuel. Possibly bad fuel pump causing low fuel pressure. Possible problems with the exhaust system (clogged muffler or catalytic converters). Are you getting CEL (check engine light) when this happens?

You are saying the engine cranks but does not start, right ?
Does it sound like it has compression ? If not could be a broken timing belt.
