I have a 2002/03 Kenmore Elite stainless dishwasher. I can't get the cap off (screws removed!) to get at the food grinder. H-E-L-P me please... :[

How do I get the cap off the food grinder, as it had toothpicks and nasty, greasy debris in there. I washed a dirty terracotta planter in it and it now makes a weird noise during the wash cycle.

SOURCE: Diswasher motor making noise during wash cycle

It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.

SOURCE: LG Dishwasher LDF7811 Making Growling Noise

Recommendations:
-Switch to a brand name detergent powder - like Electrosol or Cascade and do not fill the dispenser cup full. You will notice the difference immediately.
-Remove the filter assembly one more time and inspect underneath with a flashlight. Look closely for debris and also inspect the impeller to look for damage and that it is spinning freely.
Reassemble and listen for the growling sound. It should not happen. If it continues, you may have a a failing wash motor / motor bearing.
Please report back what you find. OK?

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher - top rack arm not spinning

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!

E22 means no fill or slow fill. Remove your water in hose and check that the screen isn't clogged.

My Kenmore Elite grinder and coffee brewer ground this morning, but then would not brew. Any ideas? The machine stayed on but never made another sound.

Try cleaning the chute from the grinder to the basket. Coffee oils build up and plug the chute. I clean mine every 3 - 4 days and have had no problems.

Does not drain

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Kenmore dishwasher elite door opens too fast, broken spring?

Could be that, the spring may have unhooked or it could be a defective damper connected to the door. Remove the side panels and check the operation of the door mechanism. (This will probably require the removal of the rear panel to gain access to the necessary fastners).

I need to remove the screen in my kitchenaid dishwasher

Generally the food grinder is just a small piece of wire looking material that sits behind a screen and grinds the smallest particles that get through..and try to grind down any larger pieces that happen to get through and those that don't generally clog the screen up. To remove and clean this assembly you will have to remove both dish racks (for work room) and then the sprayer arm which may unscrew from the top of the motor cover assembly....and then there are a series of screws, (may be hex head screws) that encircle the assembly...remove those and you will have a clear view of the entire assembly...a shop vac will come in handy as there will probably be water standing in the bottom...you should be able to see the screen and the little wire arm extension that acts as the grinder(if that's what they are using in your model) you should see a nut or screw that holds the screen in place...but you may not have to remove it if you can get to easily and vacuum out the food particles or clean it with an old toothbrush or something of the sort...I used to just clean them by rubbing the end of my flat head screwdriver over the face of the screen and thereby breaking up any lodged particles.

I hope this helps...please let me know by rating me...thank you ...The Fang

Kenmore elite dishwasher

If its the same as mine it will have one torx screw to remove. Then using a pliers grab one of the plastic vanes on the left side and pull straight up. You'll see why after you've done it. Good luck
