Blowing black smoke

far too much fuel not getting completely burned upon iginition.
That leads on to look at:
-fouled fuel injectors, (clean them - run injector cleaner)
-lack of air to the intake (filter and clear out tubing),
-spark plugs are fouled, (replace them, ensure wires seated correctly on plug)
-ignition power is low or partial, (ignition system module not sending enough electricity to plugs)
-ignition wires are bad, (check/replace)
-ECM is failing or getting bad sensor readings. (shop diagnosis)
-cat convertors have been removed and sensors are at fault
Its a long list -- do the easy stuff yourself, leave hard stuff to a shop diagnosis.

2002 harley electra glide front spark plug keeps turning black

Hi Anonymous, hopefully it's just gas fouled not oil fouled, noticed by white smoke out of exhaust. Anyways here is a short list of could be's: battery voltage, charging system, ignition components need at least 9 volts to function, spark plug, spark plug cable, ignition coil, ignition module. Good luck

#2 spark plug black all others clean

The spark plug is fouled. Without seeing it, its hard to tell from what. With a heavy black coating, this sounds like it is getting fouled by oil. This can be caused by poor oil control due to worn piston rings, or it can be caused by leaky valve seals.

I have 2007 suzuki intruder the front spark plug was replaced 3 times due to intermitant spark. Each time i check the spark plug no spark then replace the plug then spark then runs for short period the No 1...

Fouling of the spark plug makes the exhaust extremely hot due to the burning of the fuel mixture inside the exhaust pipe and the spark plug end turn to black, fouling of the spark plug may be due to too rich fuel mixture check the correct setting of the air valve.

Plugs keep fouling out on my GL 1100

If any of the spark plugs are fouling out there has to be a carb problem. Are they black when you pull them? Are all of them fouled or just a couple?
If any of them are fouled then you are needing to clean and adjust the carbs.

Black spark plug means too rich , you will have to replace the spark plug since it has foul up and reset the air mixture screw on the carburator 2 and 1/2 turns outwards.
Check the air filter too.
Hope this helps.
