I'm trying to install a program and my computer keeps telling me I don't have administrator privileges?

That happens when you are running a user account that is not the administrator account. In many ways this is smart because trojans and viruses have the same trouble installing. In schools or office buildings where they want to control who installs what on the computers it makes less problems for an administrator to fix. In your case switch users and log into your administrator account in control panel see if you can give your usual user account administrator privileges, shut down administrator account and log into your usual account and see if it now has administrator privileges in the control panel/user accounts. If not then install software while logged in the administrator account but install for all users from now on. Or you can only use the administrator account and set it up the way you like it (like your regular user account)

I keep entering my password under my user name and it wont let me in

Hi John,

What operating system does your computer have, assuming you are having trouble logging into a version of Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, other)? The following will be applicable to most but may be slightly different between versions.

Have you tried logging in with the Administrator account?

Try logging in with the Username 'Administrator' and an empty password. If you are able to log in, go into the control panel under Users & Accounts and reset the password for your user account to nothing or set a new password.

If you are not able to log into the Administrator's account or another user who has administrative privileges you will need to try a Rainbow crack (very technical) or log into another account on your machine that has administrative security privileges.

If all else fails you can run the Master Restore CD or System Recovery tools that came with your computer.

How can i change limited account to administrator? The only option that I have in control panel is the Limited User account. Its not giving me an option to add, create, change account type. Please assist...

If you have limited account that means that you must have on that computer account with administrator privilege.

If you want to change limited account you must log in with administrator account.

if you are administrator follow these steps:

1.Go to Control Panel

2.User Accounts

3.And there you can select users and change them

I WENT UNDER SOUND AND AUDIO AND IM NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE THIS OPTIONS

Are you using an account with administrative privileges? If not, log into the account that DOES have admin privileges and change the settings for the account you use. Otherwise, Windows will keep you from making changes.

How di i become an administrator

Depending on your OS. In general got control panel then user accounts,. Create a user and check admin rights. In order to do this you must be logged in to an account with adim privileges. by default if you only have one user account that account should have elevated privileges. Even if the user you are logged in as is an administrator in vista or 7 to run certain programs correctly you may need to right click on the program and select "run as administrator" Is there a specific task that your are trying to preform?

I can not get my password to work

Assuming you have Windows XP or Vista and you mean the windows log on password, if there is another user account with administrator privileges you can log in at this account, and go through settings - control panel - user accounts in order to change the password for your account.
If there isn't another user account with administrator privileges, you have to download the utility (in zip format) from this link. Extract it and burn the included iso at a cd. Boot the pc from the cd and follow the on screen steps in order to reset password.

Hey there; I couldn't install programs on my PC since I have no admin. previlage. How can I do that on my account? my PC is networked and network administred.

You can install programs on your PC ONLY with Administrator privileges!
It could be either by logging in as an administrator (or any other account with administrative privileges; Sometimes even Power User privileges is enough) OR right-clicking on the setup file of the program and choosing "Run as..." and specifying a suitable user account.
Other way will be cracking/resetting the Administrator's password - but I won't get into it... Anyway, it's probably set on a server and not in your local PC.

PS: You can ask your network administrator to grant you privileges as a local administrator (ie, only for your own PC) - if he agreed - that should solve your problem! :)

When i install my dongle it says "administrater priviligers required"

It means that you are not logged into the computer as an administrator account. Please log in with administrator privileges and then install the dongle. No one can help you in logging as Admin as no one else would know the admin username and password for your PC.
