This might be due to having one of the following enabled on the Denon:

Hitachi - HDMI-CEC
LG - SimpLink
Onkyo - RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI)
Panasonic - Viera Link
Philips - EasyLink
Pioneer - Kuro Link

Is there a way to turn off the TV and hear music. I have tried but every time I turn off the TV the receiver goes off

What is the source of your music? And how it is connected to the receiver? If via HDMI, then it is not possible. Source HDMI device will not put any audio into the HDMI when the display device is not turned on (it must authentificate with the TV to be sure you are not doing any unauthorized copying).

If your only issue is that when you turn off TV it turns off the receiver, then turn on the receiver only after you have turned off the TV. If this causes the TV to turn on also, you have HDMI CEC enabled. HDMI CEC enabled devices to communicate with each other via HDMI - receiver can tell TV to turn on/off. You can disable the HDMI CEC support in receiver menu if you want. After that, your TV and receiver will turn on/off independently of each other.

CEC on Samsung le32b450 tv interferes with Chromecast

First try this: Tools - AnyNet+ and turn off AnyNet+ this way.

If you still experience problems you can disable this function in the service menu.

Turn off the TV. Press in this order: Info - Menu - Mute - Power.

Now choose Control - Sub Option and turn off AnyNet+

Yamaha purple screen rx-v373

I had this same issue. I think I finally resolved the issue by turning off HDMI Control (HDMI-CEC) on my Blu-Ray player. I had the Blu-Ray player plugged into a Yamaha RX-V375 (almost an identical receiver). I think the source of the issue was that my TV does not not support HDMI-CEC. Turning off HDMI-CEC on the Blu-Ray player fixed the issue. The Yamaha receiver already had HDMI Control disabled, and all the other HDMI devices appeared to have HDMI-CEC disabled or not supported.

In my case, the symptoms of the issue were that I would see the correct picture for a second on power up, then the picture would go away. For the Blu-Ray HDMI input selected on the receiver, I would see a solid purple screen and a blank screen for the rest of the inputs. Sometimes switching inputs fixed the issue, sometimes power cycling would fix it, but it was getting very annoying.

Samsung PN58b530 tv and harmony 550. When setup have all devices set except when the tv turns on it stays on one hdmi setup then jumps to another that was not programmed.

Samsung TV's have Anynet automatic input switching. This severely conflicts with the Harmony Remote as they both do the same jobs; Switch inputs automatically. We would like for you to disable this feature on your Samsung TV using your original remote, so the Harmony Remote will work properly.

Disable Samsung Anynet+

1. Press your Tools Button.
2. Scroll down to Anynet and press your Select Button.
3. Once on the Anynet screen, please press your Left/Right Button(s) to select the Off Setting on the Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)
4. Scroll down to the Auto Turn Off and select No.

Once this is completed, please turn off your TV and all device and power them back on using the Harmony Remote.

Not controlling the power properly

Do you have Kuro Link enabled? The Kuro Link is enabled by default. If you haven't changed this setting, I would advise you to turn Kuro Link off as many users have had problems with the Kuro Link.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't, consult the Official Thread on the Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K on avsforum. They will surely help.
