Upper part will not "dry" and the hangar part will not move/shake? The lower part works great.

This is a Dryer, not a Washer. The Dryer is a Maytag Neptune Model # MCE80000AYW (rev-15)

Is there two different heating elements? one for the lower drum-spinning area and another for the upper part where clothes hang to dry?

If so, where is the heating element located and what is the P/N?

  • jgramzinski Aug 04, 2009

Maytag-Neptune double stack dryer, bottom part dryer works great, upper dryer area does not dry or get hot. This is the area where the clothes hang-up and there is a "shaking" device that the clothes hang-on.
    Model # MCE8000AYM (rev 15)

The light is on in the upper part and the fan is blowing, just not hot.

Where would I find the heating element (location) so I can check it?

    Thanks,

    Joe

This is GREAT, thank you! But I have one more question...

Where is the heating element located on this model?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Where would that fuse be located?

I can easily check it, do you have a schematic?

    Thanks,

    Joe

It looks like the upper rack blew a fuse. I've seen this problem before.
You have an expensive unit, I would have a service repair guy work on it.

My advice would be to call someone off craigslist.com and make sure he knows how to work on Maytag drying centers.
There's not a lot of them out there, but I'm pretty sure you'll find one or
two that know how. I wouldn't call Sears because they charge too much and if they don't have the right part, they'll order it and it can take 10 days. The technicians on craigslist have access to many part houses in their area and can usually locate the part right away.

Anyway, good luck. Hope you get the unit fixed soon :)

    Hi Joe,

It could also be a thermal cut-off or a heating element. The cut-off is on the element housing.

Look in the back of the unit. There should be an access window.

I'll trying to find a place to buy the part, but no luck. and no luck on schematic :(

    Sorry Joe.

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug. A ohm meter test for these parts ishere.
there is only 1 heating element in the dryer.but that one heating element is divided in two parts one part for lower and one for lower.if the upper heating element part is got cracked or broken the upper part will not dry the clothes.but if it needs to be replaced then whole heating element has to be replaced.
to see how the element looks and how to replace the heating element please clivk this link directly

you can get the new element from
www.repairclinic.com
the part number of the element is
Changing a Maytag element part# 313538
if not familiar with replacing the element its advisable to get it done by proper technicians.
the instructions to replace and remove and also install the element is given in the link.you can read it before replacing it manually.

Check all the power sources to make sure power is getting to upper half of the machine. If the power flow stops, then you may have found your faulty device. It may be heating element, power supply or wiring or relay itself

I have a 1989 ford f-250, when i have it going over 40mph it starts shaking like if my tires were about to fly off,any idea what can be my problem

Could be a few things, warped rotors, u-joint, upper control arm. Best thing to do is take it to an alignment shop. They will not align it if something is bad on your chassis or front end until you get it fixed. Good Luck

Truck shakes when turning

You could have a bad tire, or need a front end alignment, if neither of these is the problem have your upper and lower ball joints checked.

How do I wire around upper heating element until I can get an other one to replace it?

Question posted under marathon electric water heater.
Marathon is 240Volt dual element non-simultaneous water heater.
Non-simultaneous means that upper part of tank has to reach temperature before power is sent to lower thermostat and element. So if upper element is bad, then water heater has no hot water.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Replace-anode-rod.html#audibleBW

1) You need to by-pass upper element without by-passing upper thermostat.
2) You should never by-pass upper thermostat because it has ECO-reset protection.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-water-heater-thermostats-work.html

3) Open following link for image of wiring:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Marathon-wiring-700.jpg
4) Take photo of your wiring in case color code is different on your specific model

5) Look at upper thermostat.
Remove yellow wire from terminal 2 on upper thermostat, and cap off temporarily.
Remove red wire from terminal 4 on upper thermostat, and move it to terminal 2 on upper thermostat.
6) For more effective operation, look at lower thermostat.
Remove black wire from lower thermostat terminal 1 and move wire to terminal 2 on lower thermostat.

Hi. I have a BH Explorer treadmill. We recently moved it to another house. When I connect it and switch it on, the display goes on. I then insert the key, but the treadmill refuses to move. I have tried...

By the sound of it I am assuming the you have power to the upper display. This happens quite often when people even moving their treadmill from one room to another. My suggestion is first make sure that the safety key is engaged on the upper electronics if it is then, unplug unit remove motor shroud then locate lower board and pull and reconnect each connectors then fire it up and observe if the LED lights are on one will say PWM. This is the command for the motor to engage, the light will start flickering this mean the upper console has sent the proper signal for the motor to move. If no movement then unplug unit then remove the two connectors that go to the motor attach a 18v dc (fully charged ) drill battery and if you the motor move then look at the lower board by sheer bad luck went bad . Now if you see no flickering on the lower board remove upper console and check the the connections their. hope this give you a directions to follow.

2000 pontiac bonneville rear window cable came off

On my 2000 bville, all four of my windows came off. All four had the same problem. the upper and lower cables go around the pulleys then connect to a plastic piece connected to the track. This plastic piece breaks and lets the cable free. I fixed them all by removing motor assembly and reconnecting the cable with coat hangar wire. Kind of a redneck fix, I know, but beat paying 160 dollars per window for a new assembly that would probably break again!! Good luck!!
