It is normal for it to look for other players, if you have the Wifi circuit on and set for ADhoc mode. When you look insiode the UMD drive, you will see a black knob sticking up and just behind it is a Grey or Black ped sticking up. Turn the PSP on and press down on this peg. you should look for the Lase to Light up and look for the Disc spindle to spin. If the laser does not light up, your Laser needs to be replaced. Same deal is your Spindle does not spin.
Click on "Repair Directory" at the bottom fo this screen. On the next screen select "Video Game Consoles" . Ask the Repair shop if they know what a UMD is. If they do and tell you its a PSP Game disc, then they know about PSP's
