"Since the memory types are changing rapidly, please visit ASRock website
(http://www.asrock.com/support/index.htm) for the latest recommended memory support list."
back in 2004 512MB was max tested by them.
many old lecacy
VGA is default, not AGP
and in bios advanced see this
Primary Graphics Adapter: This allows you to select [PCI], [Internal VGA], or
[AGI] as the primary graphics adapter.
some trick mobo ,we must use VGA first then in bios
set AGP above (AGI)
then save and exit
shut down PC (no AC cord)
and insert the listed AGP card and power on an now it works
there is AUTO mode this year, like we enjoy now.
end. lecacy, almost 2 decades old. did vast then too.
You May need to clean Ram.It may be because of dirt on RAM
DIRt on cpu and on psu and on fan/
the BIOS action old means the RTC Cell is bad but none are 12 years old, not one.
ropes: 101,DIY legacy mobo for home made desktops legacy old 2006
1: good PCs, power cable to mobo plugged in, 20p, PSU to mobo, power DC .
no hdd wired or dvd drives connected.
now. no PCI cards, no cards at all in slots any.
usb keyboard only. no other USB devices.
2: a new coin cell, 12years old is dead.
replace it.
3: 1 old stick of 1GB ram is best to test
4: all jumpers set per the manual.
5: mobo has its own VGA, do no use video cards yet, later when all is good.
6: cpu pins not bent nor heatsink or fan missing. fan must spin, on.
no beeps if yes are codes. write them down by counts.
7: reset bios now.
Press old legacy BIOS key NOW,
Numlock off
or F2 as prompted the screen must work
and prompt or mobo is dead.
9 steps. to set get setting all correct.
https://www.pcdied.com/cmos.html#Reset_o...
then test hdd
then install legacy OS.
no monitor make or model told
nor all things connected to this DIY mobo.
answer will be hard or super long.
we can see it so post a photo
of insides, and rear
and we can talk , tests/ and cures.
the shut down is caused all these ways
1: overeheated PC
2: bios coin cell died, and thinks wrongly there is scheduled shut down.
3: same with windows task schedular set to shut down by time or date.
4: overloaded PSU,. any thing that shorts
the PSU shuts off, to stop smoke and fire.
6: PSU is bad.
7: power button bad or its 2 wires shorted.
8. monitor pre 2010 bad CCFL go dead. even randomly. fooling you PC bad and is not.
9: fans die in PC too at shut down.
PSU fan, CPU fan and if present GPU card fan????? all three or just cpu?
10:dog eat power cord and it is cut or frayed or falling loose from PSU?
11: electric Company gone wild? I use a UPS.
so do not get that.
The OS can turn off PC if infected or tASK SCHEDULER ACTIVE AND THIS SET TRUE.
NON ON.
BIOS CAN TURN IT AND OFF, IF BIOS HAS THIS FEATURE SEEN IN business grade PCs vast.
on or off. (by date/time) matrix,
or PSU bad. (power on logic bad)
cmos coin cell dead, sure.
or others owned this PC before you or kid playing , fiddled i BIOS and setup the power schedule inside BIOS.
or is overheating (shut downs)
or PSU overloading , shuts off,
boot loops
many old PCs did this trick
bios runs sees hdd0 first in list
it is dead (bad hdd or corrupted)
then works down the list of device
and all are missing and now boot loops
endlessly.
start with fresh new battery CMOS coin and do this
9steps

10:
if the bios has power schedules , disable them in bios pages. are wanted.//////

desktop or laptop computer ? If the PSU power supply units fan is not working the PSU is faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd floppy have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty power lead or fan lead can cause you problems computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly make sure ram modules and cmos batteries have dust free secure seatings and cmos battery has charge some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in you might not have enough computer ram not having enough computer ram will run your computer over its limits putting to much strain on the CPU central processing unit and can cause memory dumps might be getting hot check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Thermal-Compound-Roundup-February-2012/1490 hope this helps
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA
the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail
you might have to many programs trying to or accessing the internet at the same time
scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager
applications you will see whats running
if you see anything you dont need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific
program if you or computer does not require it to run and
some unnecessary programs that could be jamming up your computer
also under processes see what is ticking over in the background again if you see something you
dont need to be and users you will see who is using your computer
you might need to add more computer ram
if you're not sure if a module is right for your system use the
Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line
from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system
you should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility of the ram before making any purchase
