Aircon won't start

I came home and tried to remotely turn on my Fridigaire FAC106P1 10000 BTU airconditioner and it would not start, even after resetting.

Unplug it and open it up. You are looking for a capacitor that goes to the compressor and fan. It may be shaped like a cylinder. On one end, it may be pushed out from within. This is a blown capacitor. Replace this part and the AC should run again.

I have fixed several central air units by finding and replacing the bad capacitor.

When you open it up, also look for burn out wires.

your air conditioner's compressor would have gone. Try to change or fill the gas for your airconditioner.

Aircon no longer responds to remote handset

Open the front again and make sure that the operation selector is set to remote control. If it is, then I suspect that your remote sensor reciever on the aircon unit is bad. It is very simple to replace.

Home airconditioner

Does any of the other functions work? the blower fan? (turn the thermostat to on not auto) or the a/c? If not, check the 24 volt transformer and the fuse on the board, if it has one. If you have a meter, set it to a/c and check the wires on the thermostat. You cant check to ground on this, so check red to white, for example.
