My Hoover leaks water and detergent. The leak is coming from the knob/spring. Poor design. It's been leaking almost from day 1.

Hi! The on/off switch is located on the handle. To replace the switch, the handle would need to be replaced. Handle 39466088 can be purchased from an authorized service center or by calling Hoover Customer Service at 1-800-944-9200. To replace the internal rocker on/off switch it is recommended taking the cleaner in to a Hoover authorized service center for repair. Follow the link to locate the nearest service center to you. The sales person told you wrong. That machine, and all of the other Hoovers in that body style do not lay flat. If a Hoover is what you want and you need it to lay flat, look at the "Air" series machines. They will lay flat and are a slim build, such as UH72405,

Many people are not seeing the washable filter at the top of the vacuum cleaner. You can't see it until you open it. This will cause the vacuum to overheat and shut down when not cleaned.

Find a Hoover service center, there is a recall on those switches. They'll replace it for you free of charge!
