Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

Inspiron 1520 Power Fault?

18 month old Inspiron 1520 will not boot - no signs of life on the display or on any of the Laptop LEDs. No history that anybody's owning up to.

Pressing the test button on the battery pack indicates battery fully charged (all five LEDs on the pack light).

The LED on the AC adaptor goes out the instant the jack is plugged into the computer (whether the battery is fitted or not) and stays out until the adaptor is unplugged from the computer and the AC supply is cycled off and on.

The AC adaptor works OK on another laptop.

Any ideas?

A.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop will not power on. The power light illuminates for a few seconds then goes off. Nothing starts up, nothing is seen on the screen. I have removed the HDD and checked it on...

The only for sure way to check really, is to replace each part, one at a time with a known good part. Or an obvious sign like beep codes. And yes, I have noticed the older dells tend to toast motherboards. Could be something to do with power as well, though. Might want to check into that first

Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop screen does not light up

In Safe mode drivers, in your case the video one, aren't loaded. Uninstall the one that you have now. If it's the same then probably it's a hardware problem. To be sure boot from a Linux Live-CD like http://www.pclinuxos.com/  and press the Escape key - this way you will see the boot-log in real time, look for error messages.

My screen on my dell inspiron 1520 has gone black

You've lost your desktop display.
The first thing I would do is to start the computer in safe mode. Once there, do a system restore back to the time that it worked.
I would also, just to be safe, do your disk management tasks like checking your hard drive for errors and running defrag.

I have a dell inspiron 1520 that is 15 months old doesn't go on

Generally, if the AC adapter for the system's LED goes out when connected to the system, check the battery and see if it is holding a a charge (Press the button next to the LEDs on the battery see if all 5 light up)  If the battery still has power, then most likely there is a failure of the motherboard.
If you can, try another Dell D-series AC adapter and see if the same thing occurs.  If the system powers on, replace the AC adapter, if not it is a motherboard.

Which will also make the laptop boot longer.
