All of a sudden my phone will not type a text message. As soon as you get up a new screen to trype a message on or to reply to a received message the phone freezes. You need to take the battery out in order to get it to start over. It is impossible to write a text but other than that it still works perfectly. It is only 2 and a half months old! Help!

You can block text messages from a specific number or contact on your Android device with a third-party solution. Just follow these steps.
Blocking Text Messages
Note: These steps are for the stock “Messaging” app included with Android 5. Some carriers may include a different app for messaging.
Press the “Menu” Menu icon icon located at the upper-right corner.
Set “Blacklist” to “On“, then select the plus (+) to add a person to block.
Type the number you wsih to block. Check “Block incoming calls” and/or “Block incoming messages” as desired, then select “OK“.
If you wish to remove a number from Blacklist, select the number, then choose “Delete“.
If your messaging app does not offer a Blacklist option, use Handcent.
Download and install Handcent SMS for your text messaging needs. It’s available in the Google Play store.
Since you’ll be using Handcent for text messaging, disable the notifications for your current text messaging app. Otherwise, you’ll get double notifications for text messages.
Open Handcent then select the “Menu” Android menu button icon at the upper left corner of the screen, then select the gear in the lower left corner of the screen.
Select “Security & privacy” > “Manage blacklist“.
Tap the plus (+) icon to add the phone number you wish to block. You can choose one from your contacts, call logs, or input the number directly.
Now all of the text messages from that person will be blocked and not visible in the Handcent app. You won’t get notifications you’ve received a message from the person either. If you ever want to unblock the person, return to the “Manage blacklist” screen, tap it, then select “Unblacklist“.
Some users have reported that the app “Private Space” works well for them.
Sending an Automatic Reply
If you want to let a person know they have been blocked, you will need to download and install SwiftReply. SwiftReply will allow you to setup an auto reply for specific Contacts.
Ensure the mobile number you wish to block is listed in your Contacts.
Open “SwiftReply” and tap the plus icon (+) to make a new auto-reply.
Type the name you would like to use for the reply and the text you would like to send to the person.
Scroll down and select “Enable User Filter” > “Contacts“.
Tap “Add” and choose the people in your Contacts list that you would like to receive the reply. Tap “Done” when your list is complete.
Tap “Save“, then tap “Off” to turn the auto-reply on.
The specified people will now receive your message automatically and Handcent will block them from your view.
What you need to do is contact your local service provider (e.g mine was
Mobilicity) and then tell them that you're having trouble receiving a confirmation code from Facebook. They should be able to fix the problem, because I received my confirmation code right after.
(By the way, you can only use your cell phone number once, because
you're only supposed to have one account, according to Facebook)
You could also use the calling option, and have Facebook call you to send you the verification code.
DON'T use your home phone number for these options, because if you need
to verify your account again, they will automatically text you with the
number you gave them and tell you to type in the confirmation code
Step 1Go online to Facebook's Mobile page.
Step 2Type your email address and Facebook password into
the corresponding text-fields and click "Login" to sign-in to your
Step 3Scroll down and click "Text a link to my phone." It may take up to five minutes to receive the text message from Facebook.
Step 4Type your Boost Mobile phone number into the text-field and click "Text link to my phone."
Step 5Open the SMS application on your Boost Mobile phone
and open the text message sent to you by Facebook. Click the link
provided in the text message. This link automatically directs your phone
to download the Facebook application. Access the new application by
going to your main apps menu and selecting the Facebook icon.

usually when u get the notification u click it and it will bring u straight to the texting screen where u can text all you want. If that does not happen, and however u need to reply, you can press messages on the home screen, click on the person you would like to reply too and just automatically start typing. If the person you would like to send a message too is not someone you recently have texted, you can click on "new message" at the top. Then in the top bar type in the name of the person and on the bar below it start typing your message
i think the firmware might have got corrupted .... this might have happened due to the shutdown of the cell due to low battery or due to the sudden removal of the battery when cell is on ...
just try giving the restore factory settings option(reset) ... it will ask for the password or the security code give it ... then your phone will be reseted ... after this your problem will be solved ...
any doubts reply me i am always here to assist you thank you bye...
it seems like this is a firmware issue or conflict between the softwares or whatever your may have downloaded. You can repair it yourself, but be careful not to brick / kill your phone with wrong softwares.
Your local repair shop can help you too, if its under warranty bring to store to flash for free.
To be able to send and reply to text messages you must have NOL net access. Press menu(left of the left arrow key), scroll to net, press ok(if an error message appears contact nextel for internet service), scroll to text messaging, press ok. From there you can write, read and reply to text messages. The reason for having to do it this way is because this phone as well as others with nextel were being produce when text was first being introduced to nextel, at that time motorola wasn't making nextel phones with the option of text, so it was up to the provider to give text access(via. net).
