Re: scanner not wanting to move

Scanner lock is enabled. Scanner lock is located below scanner where pages come out after printing near the left side. turn it a quarter turn and turn copier off and on again. Should solve problem. If not, then scanner could be dragging on a loose mylar under the glass that guides the ribbon cable. To fix this, you would have to remove the glass.

My Canon MG8120 all-in-one makes a loud noise when copying (not when printing). How do I fix it?

from the question I understand, the scanner move to right and during return it starts noise.

The problem with scanner assembly, It might be dust accumulated on gears, the scanner belt might have loose or the grips of the belt has worn out. Proper cleaning and lubricating the moving parts may overcome also if the belt worn out it has to be replaced.
In case of at home position it gives noise then the home position sensor may dirty/dusty, it has to be cleaned.

My scanner screen says that the scanner bulb is warming up,but nothing happens. Also my cancel light continually flashes. What could be the cause of this?

Scanner Bulb Error Message

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner's inability to find the home reference point.
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.

Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to "walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

If this does not resolve the issue or the issue returns, upgrading the product firmware may help. The firmware upgrade can be found at the HP Web site Downloads, Drivers, and Notifications page .

Hope I help you a bit.

Scanner error 5

Try this one open up the scanning lid, use a small allen wrench and pull the screw at the left side of the frame that holds a 1 inch wide by 12 inch long piece of glass. pot ur finger inside the housing and begin to roll the gear/rubber belt to move the scanner bulb assembly towards the left side as far as you can go. Then, turn the machine off and on.
If you are adept at printer repair, remove the right side cover, by removing the two screws in the hand hold area. pull the cover out at the bottom, using the handhold area, it will pop quite loudly. Once you get the cover off, you will find a large sheetmetal box with a row of connectors across the top of the circuit board. You do not need to remove the sheetmetal box to access the connector I am referring to. The four wire bundle I'm referring to has black, yellow, blue and red wires going to it. It's pretty much in the center of the row of connectors Be sure it is secure.
If the connector is securely inserted and no pinched wires are observed, the next most likely cause for this issue is a calibration stip for the scanner head inside of the scanner top. There are no spare parts for that level of repair. Opening the scanner top to repair it is likely to let in dust or debris and you won't find much that can be done if the calibration strip has moved or delaminated. The scanner top will need to be replaced. I believe the part number for the scanner top is Q3948-60191 unless it's been replaced with a newer part number.

that shud work if it doest contact hp....
good luck

Sharo al 1631 makes clicing noise and does not

Sounds like your scanner is jammed or the scanner motor has failed.

If you are so inclined, turn the power off, you can remove the glass and try to move the scanner by hand, if you can't move it then it is jammed, if you can move it to the middle and turn the machine back on, does it return it to its home position? if so, the motor may be OK, but the control board may have a problem, if not, the motor have likely failed.

Hope this is of some help.

Xerox copycentre c20 fades out on one side of copies

If the scanner will not move you it is jammes on the scanner lock latch. Shut the machine off. Look up in the ares where the copies come out, between the paper tray and the scanner. Look under there, you will see a green latch, about 2 inches long and maybe a half an inch wide. Its the only green item on the bottom of the scanner. Push that latch in toward the back of the machine, then pull it out toward yourself until you feel it snap into place.
That can easily be moved when reaching in to take your copies out of the tray. You can put a piece of tape over it to keep it in place. Orrrrrrr, if you want. when you lift the document feeder, there is that 1 inch strip of glass held in with 2 phillips screws. Remove those screws, take that **** glass out, DO THIS WITH THE MACHINE OFF by the way.... you will see that green latch inside on the bottom. You may have to slide the scanner head out of the way a little bit. When you look at the green latch, you will see 2 plastic clips on the sides, just compress those tabs and pop the latch out of the bottom. Make sure you note the direction you take it out, because you want to flip it around . There is a tab on the latch that will catch better when it it flipped around, You can also just break off the hooked part of the plastic and snap it back in.
You only need that latch for shipping or if your going to send the machine on a ship across the ocean soon. I sort of doubt your going to do that .... Its just a shipping latch, no big deal to modify it .
That should resolve your problem. If not let me know. There are other things we can try,but if the scanner is not moving, there is a 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 percent chance the latch is just out of position.

Will not scan

With the power off & the machine unplugged, remove the scan glass & move the scanner a few inches from "home" position. Plug in & turn on machine. Does the scanner return to home position? If not, you either have a bad scanner motor or scanner cable. I'll look for you to post the results of the scanner drive test.
