What do you mean by gain access to front door speakers in Volvo V50? Are you trying to remove or replace the front door speakers? If yes, you have to remove the grills first.

Removing the grills, push in the panel and then melt the backside to keep it in there.

OR:

Remove the door panel, which is not too difficult on the 440, and cut the trapezium shaped recess to allow the grille to sit inside. Fix the grille and infill with MDF.

Hope this helps, but if you're referring to another meaning of gain access, please let me know.

    Hi there,

I have sent you a movie showing the step by step procedure.

If you have to replace the whole wiring , or to adapt an aftermarket speaker , you may have to remove the door panel, that is held by few screws mounted behind the handles and a series of clips placed near the edge of the panel.

Here is the V50 door :

If you do not have to replace wiring, and you are installing a standard factory speakers, all you will need to do is removing the small panel on top of the speakers, and replace the speakers.

If all you need is installing a standard size speaker you can follow the instructions on the movie displayed on the page below, they apply to your Volvo, and the movie had not been selected randomly.

    Click on this page.

Select How to Install Car Speakers -Play Flash Video from the bar on the left and follow instructions.

    Regards.

You will most likely have to open up the door, I would recommend buying a repair manual.

Cant find fuses

Hi there,

On these Volvo models, the common fuse compartment is located on the very edge of the dashboard - you will need to open the door wide open to gain access to the fuse cover. The other main fuse box, is situated next to the engine bay firewall, on the driver's side (refer to diagrams below).

you'll need to remove the door Panel to access the door speakers, the door panel will be held in with several screws.

Unlock passenger door

I don't envy you; I don't see you curing this without disassembling the door panel. Linkage has broken or separated and there is no way to cure the problem without gaining access to the linkage.
