Question about Panasonic PV-GS83 Camcorder

1 Answer

Bad picture and background noise when connecting camcorder to tv

I have a rather old digital camcorder which uses mini-8 video tapes.
I have recorded a video which plays perfectly in playback on the Sony Camcorder and plays perfectly when downloaded to my computer...

BUT... when connected to a TV using a video/audio out plug with the red/white/yellow plugs on the other end going into the TV... it suddenly has a loud distortion sound (similar to the feedback from a microphone that's used too close to the speakers) and the image is fairly visible but shaky, flickery and distorted... ie... CRAPPY

I have looked through all the menu functions and adjusted to PAL (I'm in Australia and use PAL) and tried various other settings to no avail ! I have tried this on two different TVs with the same results both time. The common denominator is the cable (brand new) and the camcorder (about 8 years old...)

I NEED THIS FIXED BY TOMORROW but at least hope to get an answer for the next time I need to play a Video directly to the tv !!!
Thanks for any ideas !

Camcorder picture has no colour and very dark

Playback a recorded tape on another monitor such as the computer's or a TV. If the recorded program is ok, then your camcorder screen is bad. If the recording is bad, then you may have a CCD or lens problem.

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV720 Digital-8 Digital Camcorder. How can I transfer the video from these tapes to DVD? The cabling seems too old school to link up to my computer in order to burn a DVD.

This model has iLink: IEEE 1394 firewire port. If you don't have a firewire card, you can probably find one pretty cheap on the internet (try ebay).
Windows has movie maker, which when the camera is connected, will allow you to capture the video from the camera on the comptuer, although there is no DVD burner software at least on the XP version (not sure about Vista). I use Nero for the whole process: capture, edit, burn to DVD.

My camcorder can play old tapes but won't record

Hi,
Your camcorder Sony DCR-HC20E has bad ccd imager problem and that part will be replaced to have live view to record on tape.
I can provide you ccd imager part number info if you want to repair it by yourself.
CCD Imager replacement in this camcorder requires expertise and fair skills of soldering parts in PCB.

How to Record From a TV Using PV-GS13?

connect a lead via your tv video out audio out jacks. Select tha appropriate channel (You may have to go through the av channel on you tv and tune in the channel you want to record) or, video or dvd player audio out video out jacks. connect other end to your camcorder. Select on the camcorder menu video in audio in. Turn on tv. If connected to video or dvd player, press play. Press record on your camera. When finished recording press stop. Presuming the camcorder is tape, you can buy a tape adaptor to play or record your mini tapes in a standard video recorder, then take them out of the adaptor and play them back on your camcorder. You can also do all this via a computer. Also if the camcorder is disk or hard drive it can be used the same way as a regular dvd recorder to record tv programmes once connected to you t.v. Let me know how you go 26 red

How do I transfer my camcorders recordings from HI8 tape to a computer or DVD?

Do you have another video camera that will hook up to your computer? In the past, I've connected my old Hi-8 to my Mini DV, recorded the footage from the Hi-8 to the Mini DV and then digitized on the computer from the Mini DV. You will however need some video software like iMovie for this solution.
You can also, hook the Hi-8 camera up to a VCR or TV using the appropriate cable and view it that way.

Jvc 200u problem recording to vhs video tape, from camcorder

Yes, if the camera is a US camera then it is NTSC. That would be your problem, you are trying to record an NTSC signal to a PAL video. THe frame rates and resolutions are all wrong. I am even surprised that it is playing back on your TV okay...
