SOURCE: Self-cleaning feature of GE Built-In Oven does not work

Simply set the Clock and Delay Start to the current time, then set the Stop Time ahead 3 hours. For example, if it is currently 8:00 then set the Stop Time to 11:00. The lights on the console will come on and the cleaning cycle will begin. At some point during the cycle when the oven gets hot enough, the lock mechanism is "fixed" and will not release until the cycle is complete.

SOURCE: control knob will not turn to desired setting

the timer knob has a clip that will allow you to remove the knob from the timer. it is between the knob and the dial. what happens is the knob has gear like teeth that will become stripped out.it is easy to replace but alittle hard to remove. you need to get a small screwdriver and go behind the knob, pull on it alittle and you will see the clip, then use the screwdriver to push the clip out of the knob, then the knob will pull of and you can replace it.

Try unplugging the oven and let sit for 10 min. This will reset the curcuit board and reboot the electronics. You may have to pull out the stove o get to the cord.

Oven timer won't stop buzzing.

Hi,

Please use tools to unscrew the top portion of the dial from the oven and check if the buzzing stops. If not, then you might need to remove the entire dial/timer from the oven and work with a watch shop to fix the timing function of the removed oven clock. Or you can request the clock specialist makes a home visit in order to fix the oven timer/clock for you instead.

Thank you.

Moffat Stove with a self-cleaning oven. I would like to know how to clean the oven using the "self cleaning" feature

hi there! I have a moffat stove and hopefully these instructions help you.
First clear out the racks in your oven. Take them out and remove any excess chunks at the bottom.
Then close your oven door and lock it by pulling the lock latch.
Now looking at your oven knobs [not your burner knobs] turn both of them so they are both on the arrow knob [your oven knobs should have small pictures on them and both should have arrows]
Now you need to set the time so in the middle of your oven their should be a timer and one start and stop timer on top of each other. Both timers go in increments of half an hour. So if you are starting your self cleaner at 3 move the dial to 3 or if you are starting at 3:30 move the dial to one tick after 3. Once you set your start timer, you need to set your stop timer.
Setting your stop timer, it is recommended to set it for 3-5 hours. I set mine for 4 hours. So then set stop timer to time you want the cleaning to be. If you set your start timer at 3:30 put your stop timer at 7:30.
The oven will start cleaning according to the time you set. The oven will get very hot. I recommend to not used the burners as the temperature goes to 500 degrees! You will smell an odor and that is your oven cleaning.... Hope this helps...

Turn off the timer on an old imperial st george

I have this exact same oven and this "feature" annoys me no end. To turn it off ... turn the clock dial to PAST the time that the timer dial shows. EG: If your timer dial is showing 6, turn the clock dial so that it rolls past 6 o'clock. This will pop out the timer dial and thus turn off the timer, allowing you to use the oven normally.

To stop accidentally pushing/turning that timer dial, I removed the knobs. Good luck.

I have a older Frigidaire oven model #RG74BC. I have messed with the timer knobs and the oven will not come on. Does anyone know what setting the knobs need to be on to fix this problem

You have probably inadvertantly put the oven into Automatic cook mode, where the oven will not come on until a preset time.

Try pressing/turning the clock/timer buttons and resetting the clock and this should put the oven back into Manual cook mode and you should be ok.

I need an owner manuel for Caloric Range Model # EST 345 I can'g figure out how to run the self cleaning oven cycle.

you might try the following, although it is the instructions for an old model, it may be relevant;

"The actual self-cleaning process is initiated by a simple 5 step procedure: 1. Set the range clock to time of day. Note: on models not equipped with an automatic oven timer, the self-cleaning cycle is preprogrammed for a 21/2 hour cycle. Use Steps 3, 4 and 5 only. 2.Establish the length of cleaning time by:
A. Setting the start time. Press and turn the start dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired starting time. B. Set the stop time. Press and turn the stop dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired stop time. Max time is 3 hours miniumum 1/12 hours. 3. Set the oven selector dial on the control panel to "Clean" 4. Set the temperature control dial to "off". If you temperature control dial has a "Clean" position, then set the dial to "Clean" instead of "Off". 5. Remove oven racks, broiler pan and broiler grid from lower oven. Close and lock the oven door by moving the latch lever as far right as it will go - into the locked position. If the lever is accidently dislodged restore it to the locked position. Otherwise, the self-cleaning process will not take place. Shortly after the cleaning cycle has begun, the oven temperatur reaches a degree in excess of the normal broiling temperature. The red "Clean" light will come on and the clean cycle will start. In a few minutes the door lock lever, which you have placed in the locked position, will automatically be secured to prevent the oven door from beging opened during the cleaning cycle. This latch remains locked until the clean cycle is complete and the oven temperature reduces to normal baking and broiling temperaturs. NOTE: Prior to self cleaning cycle operation, the oven and surface lights must be turned offed. The upper oven can be used."

Have a GE Electric Cook Top oven with digital

Unplug the stove. plug back in and program a short clean cycle. If this does not fix it is eithe the selector switch or the electronic control. Verifying the switch contacts with a meter is the only way to be sure.

MAJIC CHEF DOUBLE OVEN NOT WORKING

I just had a model 976-4CX put in...I have no manual...I'm trying to find one. I thought I had a problem with the element, dial or thermostat. The bottom worked, but the top stopped working. There are 2 timers with dials next to the clock labeled Start and Stop, and Push for Manual. Come to find out my problem was solved by adjusting the Start and Stop dials and/or pushing in for manual!?!
If I had a manual I'd know how these timers worked.

Self cleaning oven instructions

Self cleans generally do a good ****on small messes in 2 -2.5 hours. Larger messes take 3. Leaving the racks in is okay...but they will likely lose their shiny appearance. Manuals are on the GE website.
