I have a Sharp LC32SB21U TV. It has begun shutting off randomly. I can get it to come back on for a short period of time if I hold down the power button. The power light on the front of the TV will turn red will release the button, hold it down again it will turn orange, release once more then hold down until it turns green and it will come on for a short period of time before shutting down again. Sometimes I can get it to come back on for a couple of minutes repeating the above steps. Or it will not come back on unless I wait a couple of days. Have tried doing a factory reset twice with on luck. I took the back off and checked the capacitors. Found no issues with them. However, did find when I managed to get it to turn on there is a red light flashing on the main board. If I replace the board will that fix my problem?
Searching for a therminal defect on an active or passive electronic (smd) component
A canister coldspray can sometimes be helpfull when its come on when turns green spray and look if there is difference in time and a hair dryer for searching an therminal defect somewhere. resistor or active component.

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).
1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board
You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.
Good luck!

Unplug power cord- safety first!
open backcover
check powersupply- top center right is p.s.
top left side of powersupply you'll see 5 capacitor 3300uF 10V.
see any pop up on top? replace it All with same rate or 16v is O.K.
do not use temperature rate 75c. Use 105C.
if you know how to solder. you save $300 least!
