Find the correct address of whoever you sent mail to

well the address might have been right originally but maybe the account has been closed . Whatever it does not exist at the server it is being sent to. Dont abuse us when we give you the information otherwise we will just leave you to solve your own problems. You came to use to ask. You get the indformation . If you think you know better YOU fix it

  • dennis bullard Aug 01, 2009

Mail programs check their database to make a match to the address on the mail If no match is made it waits and tries several times looking for addresses nnot yet updated in its daily or 4 hourly cycle of search. If it doesn't find that address after a default period it returns the email to the sender with a give up message. The mail address is either incorr5ect or no longera valid address on that ISP's server.
It is no different in essece to sending a letter to an address and the occupier no longer being in residence. The letter is returned to sender.

Your email has been returned because the person you sent it to is no longer registered in the server database.

Unable to send yahoo emails

HI................

I am unable to send email to yahoo or the emails to yahoo are being delayed?

This is a new feature of yahoo mail. It is using what is called Grey Listing to fight spam. For more details, you can read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting

What happens is that whenever a new message is sent to yahoo, it replies with "try again later" message. e.g. here is a test smtp connection to one of the yahoo's mx:

# telnet 66.196.97.250 25
Trying 66.196.97.250...
Connected to 66.196.97.250.
Escape character is '^]'.
421 Message from (a.b.c.d) temporarily deferred - 4.16.50. Please refer to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/defer/defer-06.html
Connection closed by foreign host.

Now as you can see, yahoo did not even give us (the ip of a.b.c.d) a chance to start the smtp session. What it will do is wait for us to try again later. Our mail servers (or yours on your vps/dedicated server) will try again later and if yahoo likes the delay long enough, it will let the server communicate further and deliver the email.

To avoid such delays and problems with yahoo mail, you are encouraged NOT TO FORWARD emails to yahoo or any other ISP. Please refer to this KB as well why we are saying that:

http://www.jaguarpc.com/support/kbase/707.html

Instead, use proper email accounts and use any of your favourite methods to read emails, i.e. webmail, pop3, imap.

Yahoo has been having many problems lately while they are upgrading the classic mail. Many can't access their mail at all. For now you can use this link to send and receive, it's basic, but it works. http://us.m.yahoo.com/p/mail Works for me.

GOOD LUCK...........

I want to send an email when a blue window pops up but dont know if my yahoo is pop3 or imap server? i also need incoming and outgoing e-mail server HELP

Incoming mail server settings

•POP server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
•Use SSL
•Port: 995

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings

•SMTP server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
•Use SSL
•Port: 465
•Use authentication
•Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com", for example, “testing80”)
•Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (for example, testing80@yahoo.com)
•Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Troubleshooting tips

If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from your mail program, you may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server.

Your email program gives you the option of either deleting your Yahoo! messages from the Yahoo! server after downloading them into your mail reader, or leaving them on the Yahoo! server so you can see them online in your Yahoo! account, too.

Can received & read but cannot send yahoo mail from iphone

First step is try reseting the network settings. You can do this by going to settings/general/reset and reset network settings.
This will drop you off the network and reset your phone. Bringing your phone back up with current network settings.
Try sending mail. If this doesn't work, try changing your outgoing mail server.
Go into settings/mail, contacts, and calendars/(your yahoo account)/Outgoing mail server.
This will bring you to a list of mail servers, your primary server being the yahoo server with the AT&T smtp server under other.
Click on your primary yahoo server and switch this server to off. click the blue smtp arrow on the very top left. This will bring you back to the server list. go to the AT&T smtp server and turn this server on.
Go ahead and exit out either by the arrow or the home button.
Access your yahoo account see if you can send mail.

Sending e mails

Greetings nixnixxin,

Is this primarily happening with attachments? Some mail programs do not allow for large attachments, and in turn yahoo mail may also not be capable of sending large attachments.
I would be curious if it happens with just normal emails or only with attachments.

Hope this helps,

Dorothy
