Hi Gloria Compton, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
when you state a new hard drive are you referring to the box thingy that holds the whole computer inside it or the magnetic drive inside the box that stores information. ?

what type of keyboard are you referring to is it a usb keyboard or does it have a round plug on it green color I think or purple.
may need a usb to ps2 adapter if new computer has only got usb and doesn't have ps2 ?

the mouse would have a dongle that plugged into a usb port on the old computer ?
do you have this little plug in device known as a dongle ?
What operating system is running on the new computer ?
you may need to see if there is a software driver for you wireless mouse that runs on whatever the operating system is ?
make and model of mouse would be helpful also ?

The hard drive is the storage unit for the operating system , files and folders
when you install a new hard drive then format it , then install an operating system
best is now win 10 as win xp and win 7 are no longer supported by Microsoft and have dropped most drivers out of the system
to get the keyboard and any other pnp ( plug and play) units , you will have to go to the manufacturers web site for the key board , mouse , external hard drive etc, find a download for your model that is compatible with the operating system you are using and down load it

SOURCE: Wireless Keyboard not connecting

I opened up the Logitech Mouse and Keyboard Settings, turned my keyboard off, changed out the batteries and turned it back on. It then detected the Keyboard and asked for a password, I entered in the password, it said it was rebooting it and asked for another password which I entered (both passwords were given to me in the Settings). Now it is working just fine! Not sure if you have tried this but it might work for you.

Why is it my touch screen workks, but my fold out keyboard os locked and buttons are not working. the letter buttons. help please.

the touch screen is not connected the same as your keyboard the screen is direct hardware connected and youre keyboard and mouse are connected as bluetooth devices. you shoud have what is reffered to as a .dongle, which plugs into any comuter usb port, and talks to the keyboard and mouse. first check or replace the batteries inn both the mouse and the keyboard, then make to turn on the switch on the backside of the keyborad. Then push the button, connect, on the back of the dongle, and finally push the connect button on the bottomside of the mouse. The mouse and dongle should flash if they are talking to each other.

If you have an old keyboard and mouse that plug directly into the computer then they are hard wired directly to the motherboard by sockets. these are not repairable. but first go to start-botom left corner and click on the icon and go to control panel and select keyboard and rest all defaults such as keyboard language, rebbot and try again...my keyboard after installing defaults to french canada and i have to change to us otherwise my question mark becomes a french e. I hope this helps

How to get Emails from other computers I want to take my new Mac. with me on vacation. How do I get to see the messages on my other computer at home

One "partial" solution is to use your "home" Internet Service Provider's "Web Mail" service.

For example, try 'webmail.verizon.net' or 'webmail.roadrunner.com'.

You'll be able to access all the "new" E-mail that arrives while you are "away" from your "home" computer, but none of the E-mail that was stored on your "home" computer _before_ you went away.

The other solution is to use the "Remote Desktop Protocol" to "logically" connect your Mac's keyboard & mouse & screen, over the Internet, to your "home" computer, rather than using the "physically-connected" keyboard & mouse & screen.

You would have to:
1. leave your "home" computer powered-on all the time that you're away;
2. either connect your home-computer directly to your cable-modem or DSL-modem, or to use "port-forwarding" on any router that is "between" your home computer(s) and your modem, to direct all "Remote Desktop" connection-attempts to one specific computer on your home network.
3. be "security-conscious" -- exposing your computer to "accept" a Remote Desktop connection means that any computer-hacker will try to login with your ID & password to your computer, over the Internet.
4. have a "Remote Desktop Protocol" client piece of software on your Mac.

My usb ports wont recognize my plug ins

One of the USB devices might be overloading the ports. If you can use a non-wireless mouse and keyboard first and then plug the hard drive in. Try plugging the drive into another computer. If you don't have one, maybe check with a friend and make sure the drive does not have any problems. While you are at the other computer, try the wireless mouse and keyboard and see if it works ok on it
