It had dust in its head, try to fast fowerd and rewind some cassetes and may clean, if not you must disassamble it and clean its main head with good napkin or paper handkerchief but be carefull about little holes in main head (its 3 around the head and elecro magnits are stored in it and can easily damaged) here is shown

I HAVE A TOSHIBA VCR/DVD COMBINATION MACINE. THERE IS NO TRACKING BUTTON. iS THERE A WAY TO AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST THE TRACKING??

Usually VCRs do not offer specifically labelled tracking buttons as such, however they may incorporate tracking into their channel UP/DOWN buttons, both on the front of the main unit and/or remote. Some brands also offer V-LOCK (vertical lock or still image adjustment) (in pause mode during playback) to stabilise the image, reducing vertical jitter, which again can be adjusted as required using the same buttons as used for tracking. In most cases, pressing both CH UP and CH DOWN together while the tape is playing should centre track (revert back to auto tracking) the unit.

I am sure if your VCR has channel buttons on it, try pressing either one while a tape is playing. See if it affects the tracking at all. If it does, press both buttons together for 5 seconds or so, then release - auto/centre tracking takes over.

It costs nothing to try this, and it won't hurt your machine or your tapes.

My Sony KP-46WT500 screen shows the tv image in blue only for a few seconds, then it goes completely blank (as if it were off). Do I need to replace the bulbs?

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.
Thanks.

Wont play tapes

there is a detector inside the machine the makes sure the tape is actually moving from the payoff reel to the takeup real .. if it detects that isnt happening then it shuts down rather than spool tons of tape all over the inside of the machine .. if more than one tape is doing the same thing then your vcr needs service ...often the problem is a rubber wheel that loses traction .. it can be replace or cleaned but dont use alcohol .. that will remove the elastomer in the rubber wheel .. you can use just water or special solvent made for cleaning idler wheels ... even if the unit is new its likely to have been in stock for a long time .. the surface of the wheel can oxidize or sometimes the wheels get hard with age ... if its just surface contamination, you can use a pencil eraser to clean it .. this involves taking the bottom of the player off to get at the wheel ... if the unit is still in warranty then i would return it .. often professional repairs are more than the VCR costs new ..

Check that the 3 output plugs are in the right sockets (Red, Blue, Green) There is usually a felt pen colored mark on a white tape on the plug in wires. The Board sockets are marked Red, Green, Blue.

Gaming on bigscren

well the only way you can damage a bigscreen playing a game is leaving the game paused for a long time then the image would be faded into the screen so dont leave the gamecube on for 5 hours on pause and youll be ok this goes for all game consoles

DSR-45

Hello emvision,
This might be a problem where the tape when it stops it dose so at a point where the tape stops but it stops on an actual scene and dose a kind of pausing action as opposed to a stop condition (while pausing the video output amp is still active). In an actual stop the video amp is turned off. In digital once the stream is off it's off. This may account for the ghost image on the screen.

No image during recording -- sharp mini dv VL-NZ50

This problem can certainly be fixed and is not that expensive : the no image in capture mode when you can playback is caused by faulty CCD sensor and you might even have it done free of charge because it is often a faulty sensor that goes in your camera during manufacture. Sony in particular repairs these faults free of charge, but others do too.

Cannot playback hi8 ccd trv107e pal

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

Mitsubishi WS-65511 Rear Projection Big Box TV resets with a green flashing light every 5 minutes, Then works fine for 5 more minutes (perfect picture). Acts up worse when cold. Warm it up Works hours It's NOT the DM board caps. I've already replaced the DM caps twice. Not the problem. No repairman will look at the set. Too Old. So am I. I could repair it with help. The power supply must have a safety circuit that will shut down & reset if too much draw. I DON'T have a diagram. I'm not sure how to trace it . Which board? If I unplug boards one at a time, Will it damage other boards ? I know it is NOT the 7 DM board caps everyone keeps telling me. I see no burn't parts, No bulging caps. Tapping on components doesn't reset. What kind of component would act up when cold , But not overdraw when warm? This set has the best beautiful picture when it runs. If you can get past the resetting every 5 minutes for the first hour, You can watch it sometimes for 20 hours. I've left it on at night & it is still on the next morning. Change the channel Or raise the volume, And off it goes. Once or 10 times, Keeps resetting. Then on for 4 or more hours, Maybe. I can't afford a new one. It works GREAT ! when it works. I've notice that even when the set is turned off, The green light starts flashing (resetting itself while it's off) , Then stops. Once in a hundred times it will kick off the breaker & you need to push reset with a pin on the front panel next to the green light. It's probably a 10 cent resistor OR a $ 1.00 cap. If I only had someone with more knowledge than me to help. I know how to use a meter & read a schematic. I built a Heathkit 25"TV in the 70's & all my novice ham gear. I'm 64 & not familiar with digital circuits. Can someone help PLEASE ?
