Re: faceplate

Found this on Howard Forums. Sorry no photos.

Take off your battery, unscrew the screws on the back of the phone with a T6 screw driver.

Pry off the back plate, lift up circuit board gently(be mindful of flex cable) remove the flex cable from mail board by lifting brown part by the connector,

Unscrew then next 2 set of screws(be careful of flex cable!) remove the LCD board from the faceplate.

Now put the LCD Panel into the new faceplate. Find the new back slide and put your sliding rails on.(you may also put the slide magnets on from the old housing) carefully thread your flex cable through the opening.

Snap the Back slider on and then screw in the screws, then take the keypad housing and screw it into the slide rails.

Reconnect the flex cable by putting the brown hatch up(gently with finger nail) gently feeding the cable into the connector until the white line is about to the end of the connector.

Then put the brown thing down and apply little pressure.

Put the mail circuit board back into the phone with the headset jack going in first.

Then snap it back into place.

Transfer your speaker over the the new back housing with the prongs facing up.

Then screw on the back housing.

Replace battery and your DONE!!!

Best of Luck.

I put a new faceplate on my blackberry bold and now i have no network connection. i turned connections off and back on but still nothing.

The aerial may have been reliant on the faceplate, so the antenna may have actually been the faceplate or there may be a connection in it, try swapping it back, if resolves then dont change again.

The slide mechanism on the top (or left) side is coming apart. do i need to remove the board to fix it? i am assuming it has lost a screw but am not sure that is the problem......any suggestions?

Slides on phones are a pain to fix, can be something small or something big. I would first recommend having a cell phone repair service take a look before opening it up. Sliders are real touchy when being taken apart and being put back together.

Samsung Slyde has a spring out of place

You cant without destroying the phone. A problem like that needs to be repaired by the manufacturer (samsung), they will have to reflash the phone when they are done with the repair. Slider phones are never meant to come apart after being put together once.

Trying to remove the slider on SGH-A737

To remove the slider mechanism, take out the 4 visible screws first (under the battery cover). Then on the back of the phone at the bottom, remove the 2 little rubber circles with a tiny flat head screwdriver to reveal 2 more screws, take those out. Take out the 2 screws on either side of the flex cable that is coming out just below the battery compartment. Next is the part that took me hours to figure out. L Beneath where the battery sits is a long oval shaped thing (=======) <- looks something like that (sorry I don't have pictures). This is actually a sticker. Peel this up and remove the 2 screws under it (keep the sticker intact becase you will need to replace it later). This will detach the slider from the phone. Make sure to gently disconnect the flex cable from the mainboard first.

From there you can see more screws that will help you take apart the sliding part of the phone to access the lcd screen if you need to replace it (which is what I was doing). It's pretty easy from there to get everything else apart. Make sure when you disconnect the cables from the back of the LCD screen, that you flip up the little release tabs on the connectors first.

Popped screen

It is actually not that complex. Remove screws pull apart cover, there will be a couple more screws for you to remove. The you will see the plastic wire strip leading from screen to the circuit board. This strip just slides/pulls out. The screen pulls off. Reverse for replacement.
Good luck finding a replacement. The company's won't sell an individual one for the general public.

I have a samsung sgh-d807 that I took apart to repair the slider. When i put it back together everythings works fine but there is no signal at all.

did u replace the sim
sounds crazy but people do forget
failing that, put a sim in from a different network,,this should say card not accepted or simcard not alloweed
then replace with yor normal one
this CAN sometimes force your phone back onto the network

I had the same problem and I was lookin on a forum/blog on how to do this, but not many helped.I'm about to attempt to change my faceplate and I noticed when you take the battery cover off, there are 4 screws under the cover, and one near the antenna. You probably have to take apart the back part of the phone to get to the screws that are attatched to the sliding part of the phone. Its probably a little risky and tricky, but Im guessing thats how you get to the 2 hidden screws.
